‘Oblivion’ and ‘Fallout 3’ team up in a double pack this April for Xbox 360 and PC

Two blockbusters, one box. It’s a great deal, really. Get Bethesda’s award-winning games The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and Fallout 3 in a brand-new double-pack. The new compilation pack will be available on April 3 for PC and Xbox 360 — at the moment, according to a comment from someone from Bethesda, they’re just not allowed to release this on PS3 for some reason we don’t yet know. The pricing for the two bundles varies slightly — the Xbox 360 version will retail for $29.99, while the PC version is only $19.99. Looks like this will be a great chance for someone to pick up these classics, if they don’t already have them. Follow

    Stack of Shame Resolutions

I usually make a couple of gaming resolutions every year, and there have only been two years where I actually fulfilled one or two of them. There’s generally the typical resolution to play what I have first before I buy something new, but that’s such a fool’s resolution, especially since I now review games. Really no sense in putting such an unrealistic resolution in my list this year. There’s also a resolution that I will finish one or two particular games by the end of the following year. It was thanks to such resolutions that I finished Kingdom Hearts 2 and Final Fantasy XIII. My must-finish resolution this year was Red Dead Redemption, but I never took the game out of the box. I got distracted with so many of the great titles that launched this year and I was introduced to Mass Effect. Why play a new game when I

WiG Weekend: Interview with Megan Sawyer, Bethesda Softworks

Many of us have spent hours “oo”-ing and “ah”-ing over the random bric-a-brac of Oblivion and Fallout 3. Megan Sawyer is one of the many talented environment artists who spend hours creating the small bits of scenery that make us enjoy the beauty of video games. Hi! I’m Megan Sawyer, an environment artist for Bethesda Softworks. I create various environment pieces from shrubs to small clutter items, and in the past have done everything from tapestries that hang on the walls to tires that sit in the dirt, to houses and their interiors. I’d like to think that’s why they’ve let me stay for so long without calling security.

Bethesda Announces inXile’s “Hunted: The Demon’s Forge”

Man, everyone at Bethesda must be pretty busy right now. They’re already publishing Rage, Brink and Fallout: New Vegas, and now we’ve got another title to add to the mix: Hunted: The Demon’s Forge, by inXile Entertainment. Hunted is a co-op third-person action title for 360, PlayStation 3, and PC that uses the Unreal 3 engine, just like your BioShock and Gears of War titles – not like Bethesda’s other titles you know (Oblivion, Fallout 3); those use the Gamebryo engine. That in itself is interesting. (Though the fact that this isn’t an Obsidian title like those two games are has a lot to do with it.) You’ll essentially be crawling dungeons with two mercenaries: E’lara and Caddoc. The former is a ranged weapons expert, the latter a master swordsman. You’ll take on wave after wave of enemies with these two with awesome co-op attacks, special moves, magic, and the

Borderlands & Fallout 3 – Why You Should Buy Both

If you pay any attention to the world of gaming at all, you’ve probably heard the comparisons between the recently released Borderlands, and 2008’s Fallout 3. While there are several delicious similarities between the two, I am going to take a moment to tell you why buying both is really your only option. First, a bit about each. In Fallout 3 you assume the role of  a young, underground vault inhabitant who finds themselves navigating a post-apocalyptic wasteland of Washington D.C. (the Capital Wasteland) in search of Dad. Along the way you encounter mutated animals, horrible raiders and scavengers, and higher-up baddies. The FPS/RPG-style game has you combing the blighted city for answers, while completing quests that further the story (or many that don’t) along the way. In Borderlands you assume the role of one of four character types: Siren (token girl), Hunter, Soldier, or Berserker. You find yourself navigating

    Penny Arcade Expo 2009 Overview

The Great! There are rumors of this year’s PAX reaching 60,000+ nerds and nerdettes in attendance this year, which is a far cry from the 3,300 at the first PAX. Bethesda has a new game coming out! To anyone who showed up last year, you’ll remember the gigantic spectacle that was Fallout 3. Unfortunately, Brink is still far from release so there wasn’t anything near that grand this year (maybe next year?). Although a word for developers: if you want people to see your game and be interested in it, don’t surround the demo area in frosted glass that people are unable to look through. Bioshock had it’s own little stage area set up… These clues must mean something, but my PAX Pox-riddled brain can’t seem to put the pieces together. However, anyone who has followed the Bioshock 2 story thus far will truly appreciate what they’ve done here. The

Escaping the Mothership (Fallout 3 DLC)

So, I had just gotten back from Point Lookout to do some trading in Megaton and put away some of my new goodies when I heard a signal coming from my Pipboy. I finished up at the house, leaving Wadsworth is charge of cleaning up the water notices that keep appearing on my door, and wandered out into the Wasteland to discover the location of the signal. All I did was walk up to the wreckage and the next thing I know I am drifting in and out of consciousness. I briefly noticed little gray figures over me, passed out again, and full awoke in a cell with another woman. Somah had been up here on the ship for a while, and now that I was her roommate, she had a plan for breaking us out of the room. We staged a fight and the aliens let down the force
