Opinion: Feeling Unwelcome in the Industry I Love

Preview events are common in the gaming industry. The event’s purpose is to give journalists uninterrupted time with the game and with the studio responsible for the title. Preview events have been under fire lately as they grow into larger and larger events. For some preview events you drop by an office for an hour. Others take you to Cancun. The concern is how much the event influences the journalist. Some sites have refused the fancier events, but by missing out, the site also misses out on the coverage which equals hits. I have attended some preview events for GamingAngels. We tell our readers about the extent of the event; though being that we are an independent site, we tend to not get invited to many. To be clear, I was not invited to the Duke Nukem Forever event. I have no knowledge about the title (except I’m excited for

Dead Rising 2 UK Hands-on Event

Gaming Angels attended Capcom’s first UK Dead Rising 2 hands-on event in a 24-hour casino laced with Xbox360s. The best kind. There were zombies of two sorts, the stumbling, blood-covered kind, and slightly strange members of the public who looked like they hadn’t slept. It felt rather surreal to be entering a casino in one of the busiest parts of London, Leicester Square, at eleven in the morning. It was also very surreal to walk into a ridiculously extravagant building with suited men behind blackjack tables and seeing Capcom staff dressed as zombies, walking like their legs had been caught in a bear trap. Surreal, but it was a wonderful way to set the scene for the impending Capcom-branded madness that was to happen with our hands-on with their upcoming game, Dead Rising 2. Dead Rising 2 opens with Chuck Greene, who you may know from the Dead Rising 2:

This week’s OGOTW takes us back to an old favorite of a lot of casual gamers, Mahjong! In this game, just match two tiles at a time to clear the board. When you have a few minutes to sit and play a casual game, what genre do you gravitate toward? Good luck!

TMG Interviews Brent Fox of NinjaBee

Last week, Erik the Editor-in-Chief at The Married Gamers sat down with Brent Fox, the Art Director and co-founder of NinjaBee.  They discussed the history of the company, their games, and what they’re working on.  TMG has been nice enough to share their interview with us. ERIK: I appreciate your time for doing this. I’ve just got some questions for you that I put together from the staff at The Married Gamers and we’ll go from there. Brent: All right! E: When you helped create NinjaBee, what was your vision statement for the company? B: That’s a good question. I guess our main goal as a group that started in the beginning had worked previously at a video game company that was fairly successful and things were going well for a long time and then things went not so well and our main goal was to be able to basically
