Free Realms the Comic Book out July 29

Sony Online Entertainment is taking their free to play MMO, Free Realms to the Comic book world. Wildstorm has teamed up with SOE to create a 12 issue comic book series by author J.S. Lewis. The story starts when a young boy is abducted and dragged into a darkened forest. A relic hunter and a pixie team up to save him. The comic is $3.99 and will be out tomorrow.

Free Realms now has Guilds

SOE Fan Faire hasn’t started yet, but the announcements are starting to come in! Free Realms has announced that the kid-friendly MMO will have guilds now. Players can create a custom name for their guild and the name will be displayed over all characters in the guild. There will be a guild chat channel provided as well. To create a guild, players have to be level 15 in at least one job. SOE Fan Faire is June 25-28 in Las Vegas, NV.

SOE breaks Guinness World Record

Sony Online Entertainment broke a Guinness World Record today at E3 convention in Los Angeles. Jive Records artist, The Dares set a record for the first concert to take place simultaneously in the real world and a virtual space during E3. Over 2 million people have created accounts in Free Realms, the free to play MMO launched by Sony Online Entertainment that features a song by the Dares.

Free Realms surpasses two million player mark

Sony Online Entertainment announced that more than two million unique users have registered for Free Realms. Free Realms is the free-to-play, family-friendly game that really is perfect for people that are playing their very first MMO. Free Realms launched in April and 75% of its registrants are under 17. To celebrate, all current players will receive a “party pack” that has a tons of in-game items to celebrate. “In less than a month, Free Realms has captivated a core player base of tween and teen gamers, while also strongly resonating with MMO gamers,” said John Smedley, president of Sony Online Entertainment. “We wanted to create a game to play with our families and are excited to have hit the mark with our intended audience.” Free Realms has resonated with female demographic with a third of players are female.
