Rock and Roll legend, Johnny Cash is getting the video game treatment as a playable character in Guitar Hero 5. Cash’s virtual image will be in “Ring of Fire” and players can unlock the ability to strum and sing along with Johnny Cash. Guitar Hero 5 full set list released

The Guitar Hero complete setlist has been released today. 85 songs are in Guitar Hero 5 including classics like Johnny Cash’s “Ring of Fire,” TV On The Radio’s “Wolf Like Me,” Muse’s “Plug In Baby,” Stevie Wonder’s classic “Superstition” and Nirvana’s multi-award winning, chart-topping “Smells Like Teen Spirit.” There is a new gameplay mode called Party Play mode. This allows players to jump in or out of gameplay without interrupting the playing of rock. Here is the incredibly long list of tracks. Guitar Hero 5 will now include Shirley Mansion

Activision has announced that Guitar Hero 5 will include Shirley Manson’s likeness and vocal stylings. I love that the digital Shirley Manson looks like her and not some uber thin, anorexic chic. Manson’s Garbage hit, “Only Happy when it Rains” will be included. So far Guitar Hero 5 includes music from, ” The Rolling Stones, The White Stripes, Kings of Leon, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan and Vampire Weekend, plus more than 25 artists from a variety of music genres that will be making their music video game debuts.” Guitar Hero 5 will be in stores on September 1 for the 360, Wii, PS3, and Playstation 2. Today, Guitar Hero launched an online scavenger hunt that welcomes fans to scour the internet, from blogs to videos and other sources, to uncover the entire playlist for the upcoming Guitar Hero 5 title. Once registered, users will be given clues leading to media sites where new parts of the list will be revealed over the next 5 days. Once the band names have been found, registered users must verify them at the Guitar Hero site. After having the bands verified, they will be entered in The Guitar Hero 5 Tickets, 5 Concerts Sweepstakes for a chance to win a set of 5 tickets to 5 different concerts in a city near the winner.
