Microsoft and Bungie to release special edition Halo: Reach Xbox 360 bundle and wireless headset

Today at San Diego Comic Con Microsoft revealed that they will be releasing a special Xbox 360 Slim for Halo: Reach. Designed by Bungie, the limited edition console is in a silver color with some accents and it will come with two controllers that fit the theme. This bundle will also come with a standard copy of Halo: Reach and will retail for $399 USD. Personally I wouldn’t mind snagging a controller or two separately as I think those steal the show over the console itself. However the minimalistic design for the console and the “Property of…” message on the side is very cool. For those who have not picked up a slim, this may be a nudge for them to! You can also check out more images on Major Nelson’s Flickr page. To pre-order the bundle from Amazon, start here. ETA: In addition, a Halo: Reach wireless headset will

GameStop’s exclusive “Halo: Reach” pre-order armor

As usual, GameStop’s got a special goody for those of you who pre-order your copy of Halo: Reach for Xbox 360, out on September 14. The UA Multi-Threat MJOLNIR Mark V(B) Armor. That’s it on the right. Pretty, ain’t it? Well, it’s functional, too. Designed to operate in a wide variety of combat situations, the armor configuration allows for freedom of movement while protecting your Spartan from Covenant attacks. Of course, as an additional reminder, you get even more goodies if you pre-order a Limited or Legendary edition of Halo: Reach, so if that was on your radar, you might want to go ahead and get that reserved. You know your local store’s going to be swamped during the (incredibly probable) midnight release.

    First Look: Halo Reach Beta

As many of you know, yesterday (March 3rd) is the first day of the Halo Reach Beta for all of you that already own Halo 3: ODST. First of all, the beta is a staggering 1.31 GB (or thereabouts) and even with a fast connection will take about 5-10 minutes. If you have a super slow connection or one that is notoriously glitchy, let me tell you right now that you should just set up the download and go eat dinner or something. It’ll take to up to a half hour sometimes. The big thing to remember is that since you’re using the ODST disc, you have to keep the download screen up because if you close it, the system will think that you mean to play ODST and not continue your download. Once the download is done, you’ll find a very nice welcoming screen. You’ll get the chance to

“Reach” Video Explores the Carnage at Your Disposal

Well, if you haven’t suspected it before now, it looks like the truth is finally out: Everyone at Bungie is having a lot more fun with “Halo: Reach” than you are. But why aren’t you having fun with it? Oh, right, because you don’t have access to the beta yet. Well, you’re definitely not alone, because you probably don’t work at Bungie! This video, coming in at a whopping eight and a half minutes, has people talking about the weapons and armor you can equip. They also go over the multiplayer types and maps, as well as arena divisions. I think everyone uses the word “awesome” at least once, if that counts for anything. Something that looks particularly interesting is the multiplayer matching method. Not only does it group you together by skill level, but their system also supposedly takes into account just how much fun you’ll have with someone.

    Guest Preview – Halo: Reach

For movies, it’s Star Wars. For books, it’s Harry Potter. And when it comes to the monster epic series for gaming, it’s hard to argue that Halo doesn’t stand alone. Quite simply, there’s no other IP with the expanse of titles and updates as the Halo universe. Add in the soundtracks, novels, comics, action figures and other Halo-related merchandise and arguably only George Lucas could possibly grock the kind of fan frenzy that a new Halo game can garner. Title: Halo: Reach Developer: Bungie Publisher: Microsoft Game Studios Release date: 2010 At X10 in San Francisco last week, Bungie Studios announced Halo: Reach, the latest addition to the Halo universe, would open its multiplayer beta on May 3. No word as to when the full title will officially release, but that didn’t stop Bungie community and PR director Brian Jarrard from showing off the pre-alpha build and giving us an

    Microsoft showcases their biggest year

Today at X10, Microsoft set out to prove why 2010 is going to be their biggest year ever by showcasing their exclusive games set to come out this year. And I must say that after reading all about these games I’m pretty excited myself! Microsoft has many titles coming out that will satisfy the needs of gamers from the fans of Halo, to Left 4 Dead to Fable. “This is going to be an amazing year for Xbox 360 and for gamers worldwide. It’s our biggest and most breakthrough year yet, filled with games and entertainment that you won’t find on any other console,” said Phil Spencer, corporate vice president of Microsoft Game Studios. “I’m floored on a daily basis with what the ‘Crackdown 2’ team is doing, and Bungie is proving the impossible possible by eclipsing even its own untouchable standards with ‘Halo: Reach.’ I can’t wait to jump
