Twitter Weighs In On the iPad

Did you know that your tweets are being scanned for content? That’s right, companies are scanning tweets for content on specific products, for example, I don’t know, one of the most talked about gadgets of the moment: the Apple iPad.  According to Attensity Analyze for VOC (http://www.attensity.com/en/Applications-and-Services/Applications/Voice-of-the-Customer/Voice-of-the-Customer-Index.html), which monitored over 55,000 tweets over a period of five days. These five days included prior, during and four days after the announcement of the iPad.  For a complete breakdown of the tweets, 20,000 tweet were two hours prior to, 20,000 was two hour after the announcement, and 15,000 were four days after the announcement. What’s very interesting is the trend of positive comments in relation to the iPad. Even four days after the announcement, there was a 69% positive comment rate. Of course, that could be because there were only 15,000 tweets used for that time period. The rest of the findings include some of

Starting the Year Right: Apple’s App Store Reaches 3 Billion Downloads

Apple’s iPhone did a lot more than change the face of mobile phone gaming. It’s changed the way a lot of people look at smartphones forever. In fact, with over 50 million users and over 85,000 apps available, there’s an app for just about everything the hardware can do, and peripherals to make it do the things it can’t right out of the box. With over 125,000 developers using the platform (some of whom can actually say they’ve started coding for iPhone full-time), and more added every day, the iPhone train is headed downhill at full speed with no brakes. In the first few days of 2010, Apple announced that the App Store reached over 3 billion downloads. To put that in perspective, in the past eighteen months, an average of 64 apps were downloaded every second. With an all-but-confirmed tablet on the way and more iPods and iPhones flying

iPhone app gives you advice on how to live life

You can put this app in the “not every app has to actually be useful” column. Sinecure Industries has created an app that tells you how to live your life called “Halp!”. The app picks a random piece of advice and displays it for the user. A user can either take the advice or get something new with a shake of the phone. There are over 700 pieces of “advice” in the app. “We know a lot of people who are incredibly indecisive – not even about big decisions, but even what to have for lunch. This iPhone app is for them. We put in so many pieces of advice there are at least 10 that apply to anyone at any given time,” said the application co-creator Sean Flanagan in a statement. The advice may be random, but if it spews out advice like the above for gaining superhero powers,

The Nook which will be released on November 6th, is coined to be the “The world’s most advanced E-reader.” You figure that this would be a very hefty claim to make.  Well this e-reader appears to be able to do a lot. Not only are you able to take a small library where ever you go, you are also able to download new books though the Nook’s 3G and Wi-fi connectivity. The great thing with the Nook is the fact that you can share your books with other people for fourteen days if they have another Nook or have downloaded the software into their computer, IPhone, or Blackberry. Review: Gourmania for the iPhone/ iPod Touch

App Store Rating: 4+ Genre: Hidden Object/ Sim Number of Players: One Developer: Alawar’s Friday’s Games Release Date: Sept 22, 2009 Rating: Buy it! I never really know what to expect when a genre of games is introduced to the iPhone. Hidden Object games can be great on the PC or they can be truly terrible.  Thankfully, Gourmania for the iPhone/ iPod Touch falls in to the first category.  Gourmania is a combination Hidden Object and Sim Game where players have to complete recipes by finding the hidden ingredients. The story places the player as a chef working his or her way through a series a restaurants. The flow is very smooth and each level ends with a mini game giving players the chance to earn bonus money. The mini game adds a puzzle element to the game. Gourmania had several challenges to overcome. In general, I find Hidden Object
