Harry Potter Deathly Hallows will not be in 3D

Warner Bros has announced today that Harry Potter Deathly Hallows will not be in 3D. The movie will be in 2D and in Imax. Here is the official statement: Warner Bros. Pictures has made the decision to release “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1” in 2D, in both conventional and IMAX theaters, as we will not have a completed 3D version of the film within our release date window. Despite everyone’s best efforts, we were unable to convert the film in its entirety and meet the highest standards of quality. We do not want to disappoint fans who have long anticipated the conclusion of this extraordinary journey, and to that end, we are releasing our film day-and-date on November 19, 2010, as planned. We, in alignment with our filmmakers, believe this is the best course to take in order to ensure that our audiences enjoy the consummate

Wield the magic of Harry Potter using Kinect

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and EA have announced at GamesCom that they are enabling an exclusive Kinect experience with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Your hands will be able to wield magic with the first dark Harry Potter game. “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 is non-stop action with Harry defending himself against a host of menacing enemies,” said Jonathan Bunney, Vice President and Head of Production at EA Bright Light Studios. “Our Kinect challenges allow players to literally cast magic from the palm of their hand, completely controller free, to enhance and deepen the overall play experience; and, even better, we have enabled a special co-op mode with Kinect allowing two people to fight Death Eaters side-by-side for the first time in any Harry Potter game.” Yes, I’ll be playing complete in my Hogwarts costume. Here’s a video of how silly we’ll all look: Video

New Harry Potter Trailer Shows Dark & Twisty Side

The first trailer released for the long anticipated conclusion of the Harry Potter saga, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, brings forth the darkness that the story exudes. The trio of heroes are all shown facing intense difficulties that are quite real and beyond their years. Chilling battle sequences, glimpses of fear and pain on the faces of some beloved characters, and the mass of death eaters awaiting undesirable #1 are enhanced by the literal darkness of the scenes with powerful music overlaying the cold, deliberate words of Voldemort. The trailer encompasses both parts of the Deathly Hallows films (they have split the tale into two films, which will hopefully make the representation more complete) and focuses in on the epic battle of good vs evil in Harry Potter and Voldemort. To me, the acting already seems incredible and the scenery and cinematography look amazing. The trailer definitely has raised

“LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4″ trailer is both plastic and magical

This launch trailer for the first (long-awaited) LEGO Harry Potter game is as cute as we’ve come to expect from a LEGO product. Environmental details include lots of items you can pick up at the LEGO store, as well as a few that you can’t, but it’s all plastic, anyway. If you haven’t played the demo yet, definitely download it and give it a go. But if you don’t want to go through all that, the game is in stores on Tuesday (just like Naughty Bear). Enjoy the launch trailer! Video Games | LEGO Harry Potter | Launch Trailer XBox 360 | Playstation 3 | Nintendo Wii

“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1″ Has an Autumn 2010 Release Date and a Trailer

The story’s one the world waited a decade to read, and with the film version coming this November, of course there’s going to be a video game to go along with it. Warner Bros. Interactive, along with EA Play, announced that the video game version of the film will be shipped in two parts, just like its film counterpart, and the first of these will be released in the fall for all major gaming platforms. This is the first time the primary action has taken place outside of Hogwarts School, and the darker source material will lead to a more action-oriented game. Harry and his friends will engage in several epic battles in their quest to destroy all of Voldemort’s Horcruxes – including fights with Death Eaters and Snatchers. Here’s a trailer, featuring what appears to be quite a lot of spell-aiming. Maybe Harry Potter is the third-person shooter I’ve

EA Announces Key Titles for Fiscal Year 2011

Along with the usual incredibly well-spun fiscal year reports (in which a company says that everything is awesome whether it is or not just to make investors happy), we usually get projections of what’s to come in the future. Today, we’ve got Electronic Arts’ projections for Fiscal Year 2011. This’ll give you a better idea of when some of your favorite EA titles will be hitting store shelves. Of course, we can’t take this as complete fact, since things can change, but it’s a good guideline to get you started. In the first quarter, we’ve got: Skate 3 Green Day: Rock Band All Points Bulletin (PC) FIFA World Cup: South Africa Tiger Woods PGA Tour titles For the second quarter: Need for Speed World (PC only, a social networking game) NCAA Football 11 FIFA Online NHL 11 MySims SkyHeroes The third quarter: Medal of Honor Crysis 2 Need for Speed

LEGO Harry Potter Trailer Lets You Inside Hogwarts Once More

Yeah, the game got pushed back a little. (Okay, that actually does make me sad in ways that words cannot express.) But the upside is that we get pretty trailers like this! (That definitely makes me wish the game hadn’t been pushed back from May to June.) In this little look at the game, you see some of the work that’s gone into the making of Hogwarts and its students, as well as get some commentary from the game’s makers on why the LEGO series is so fun. It’s coming out on pretty much every platform ever, except for your phone, so pick this up if you can! Or just “accio” it over. Your choice. (You know, in June. Sigh.) Will we be reading new Harry Potter in 10 years?

According to a news post on SciFi Wire, possibly. In an interview J.K. Rowling did with the Washington Post at the White House Easter Egg roll, she has not planned on writing another Harry Potter book, but that could change “maybe 10 years from now,” depending on how she feels. My inner cynic wants to say “sure when she needs more cash,” but the fact that JRK hasn’t done anything sooner gives me hope. Personally I think the series is good where it stands, and I’m sure children will find the story fun to read years from now. The intriguing tidbit that is also mentioned is that she would like to write another book. “I’m quite sure in the not-too-distant future I will bring out another book,” Rowling stated. It’ll be interesting to see what she comes up with outside of the Potter universe. I’m also wondering if she will

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter Superbowl ad

Maybe the Superbowl isn’t your thing, but you have to admit that you probably have the channel on for the commercials! The commercials have traditionally been the best part of some recent Superbowls. I do enjoy the Puppy Bowl though. Today we have a sneak peek at the commercial for the Wizarding World of Harry Potter which will play during Super Bowl XLIV. The ad offers a look at what the magical world will be like when it opens in Spring 2010. Yes, that soon! Universal has also launched the microsite here which has tons of information about the new park and visuals on the land. Watch this area for more upcoming news on the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. “We are incredibly excited to be launching our new brand campaign for Universal Orlando Resort with a glimpse of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter,” said Alice Norsworthy, executive vice
