    Marvel interviews the King of Fashion: Tim Gunn

    Marvel announced awhile back about Tim Gunn being featured in a new comic. The cover alone blew our minds. Tim Gunn in an Iron Man suit? Will Tim change the fashion of Marvel? Recently Tim Gunn visited the Marvel offices and met with Marvel’s Senior Fashion editor, Margarita Vaisman. In the video below they talk about Tim’s new project with Marvel and who he thinks is due for a makeover. I love the part where he says he’s more of a “biter and hairpuller”.     Disney to acquire Marvel for $4 billion

    The big breaking news this morning is that The Walt Disney Co. says it is acquiring Marvel Entertainment Inc. for $4 billion in cash and stock, bringing characters like Iron Man and Spider-Man into the Disney family. “This transaction combines Marvel’s strong global brand and world-renowned library of characters including Iron Man, Spider-Man, X-Men, Captain America, Fantastic Four and Thor with Disney’s creative skills, unparalleled global portfolio of entertainment properties, and a business structure that maximizes the value of creative properties across multiple platforms and territories,” said Disney head Robert A Iger. “Ike Perlmutter and his team have done an impressive job of nurturing these properties and have created significant value. We are pleased to bring this talent and these great assets to Disney.” Under the deal, Disney will acquire ownership of 5,000 Marvel characters.     Madhouse show trailer for Marvel Anime

    We previously announced Marvel’s partnership with Japanese Studio Madhouse to create four new anime versions of Marvel Super Heroes. Today they posted trailers for Iron Man and Wolverine. Two of the series are yet to be announced. The series is expected to being airing on the Animax channel in Japan in spring 2010. Madhouse has worked on popular titles such as: Ninja Scroll, Vampire Hunter D, Trigun, Tokyo Godfathers, and Metropolis, Japanese successful TV series such as “Death Note” and “Nana”, as well as Paprika (an Official Selection at the 2006 Venice Film Festival) and The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (2007 Japanese Academy Award for Best Film – Animation).     Preview day of SDCC including swag

    If Preview day at San Diego Comic Con is any indication as to how the rest of SDCC will be there are three words to describe: fun, stinky, and packed. Preview night is typically the lowest attended night and is supposed to give people a sneak peak as to what is on the showroom floor. Tonight it was PACKED. Wall to wall people, but this was only true in the Video game and movie sections. Maybe this has to do with the popularity of video games and movies, but I think it has more to do with the “free swag” that people were fighting over. Meanwhile the comic book section (what the con is supposed to be about) was empty with tons of free space. Maybe that’s because you have to actually buy items, but for a convention that is supposed to be about comic books it was a sad

    SEGA brings Bayonetta to Comic-Con

    SEGA has announced their San Diego Comic-Con schedule which includes a ton of Bayonetta coverage. Every day on the floor at the SEGA booth (#5229) , visitors will be able to get a hand’s-on with Bayonetta demo. Other titles at the booth are Iron Man II, Planet 51 and SEGA All-Stars Racing. On Friday, July 24 from 6:30-7:30pm in Room 10, Producer Yusuke Hashimoto will be discussing a behind the scenes look at the making of Bayonetta. Also on the panel is Lead Character Designer, Mari Shimazaki. On Thursday, if cosplayers dressed as Bayonetta can win entry into an exclusive Bayonetta event that evening. The real live action model will be at the booth, Thursday and Friday at various times.

    Iron Man award nominations and video

    Iron Man did amazingly well last weekend, and if you haven’t seen it yet, then go!! Today we get news from Marvel.com that Iron Man is up for a MTV award. The nomination is for “Best Summer Movie So Far” which is funny because it’s not even really summer yet. But you can vote here for Iron Man just to help it win every award it can be up for.
