Bioshock Infinite pushed back to 2013

In a letter written to the community, Irrational Games co-founder Ken Levine has stated that they will be moving the release of Bioshock Infinite to Februrary 26, 2013. And it’s not just the release date that has changed. Irrational Games will not be showing anything for Bioshock Infinite at E3 or at Gamescom. “That way, the next time you see our game, it will be essentially the product we intend to put in the box. Preparing for these events takes time away from development, time we’re going to use instead to get the best version of Infinite into your hands in February,” says Ken. Now while I am a bit sad that I won’t get my hands on the game this year, I’m also a bit happy that they are taking the time to make sure that the final product they put out is the best it can be and will make

Okay, maybe the Boys of Silence are the creepiest thing ‘BioShock Infinite’ has to offer

So far, we’ve met the Handymen and the Motorized Patriots, but this new video for BioShock Infinite‘s “Boys of Silence” nails what’s creepy about them right on the head — that obscured head. These guys apparently can only hear you and call in backup. They’re the kind of thing you either avoid on purpose or take a risk and tackle head-on. And man, are they scary. By the end of this video, you’ll be sufficiently creeped out. Follow

    ‘Bioshock Infinite’ Gets Release Date

Irrational Games announced today that Bioshock Infinite is coming to the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC Oct. 16. The game will support the PlayStation Move controller, and in another PS3 bonus, the original Bioshock will come along with Infinite on the Blu-ray Disc. Gamers play as Booker DeWitt as he and Elizabeth try to escape the floating city of Columbia, in a forward 1912 America. “After BioShock, we had a vision for a follow up that dwarfed the original in scope and ambition,” Kevin Levine, Creative Director of Irrational Games. “BioShock Infinite has been our sole focus for the last four years, and we can’t wait for fans to get their hands on it.” Follow

‘BioShock Infinite’ had a trailer at the VGAs, too

We’d already been teased about a BioShock Infinite trailer at the Spike Video Game Awards on Saturday night, but now we get to see the actual thing. It’s hymn-notic. Yep, that bad pun there is in reference to the song used for the duration of the trailer, “Let the Circle Be Unbroken,” as sung by Elizabeth’s voice actress, Courtnee Draper. They probably used it because it talks about “a better home awaiting in the sky.” That home, in this case…well, it doesn’t look like things are going too well, from a few of the vignettes this trailer gives us. You want more ‘BioShock Infinite’? Fine, you get a picture

In what is an announcement of an announcement if I’ve ever heard one, Irrational Games released the above image to announce the debut of a brand-new BioShock Infinite trailer during the Spike VGAs on Saturday evening (at 5 PT/8 ET). So, watch the VGAs, get another peek at what’s going on on the Columbia. It’s a trade-off, if you’re not already into what the “awards show” has to offer. If you are, however, you definitely want to keep an eye on us over here at GA…we’ll have a little something special going on, it seems… Follow

‘BioShock Infinite’ on PlayStation 3 to get special Move peripheral

On an official PlayStation-related article from Sony, the console-maker noted that 2012 release BioShock Infinite will get its own special Move peripheral. Of course, this note didn’t stay up on the site long — here’s the current incarnation — but Videogamer managed to snag the interesting part of the original text: A special PS Move peripheral is being produced that will draw you even deeper into this stunning vision of a parallel future. Of course, the bigger question here is…well, what on Earth (or off Earth also works in this case, I suppose) is the peripheral for Move going to represent? Guns have been done to death, but that’s the likely end result here. I guess an older gun that Booker uses would be cool enough, right? BioShock Infinite‘s Move integration isn’t a secret — Ken Levine himself announced the game’s support during E3 2011. The game currently has no

Who’s behind Booker and Elizabeth in ‘BioShock Infinite’?

These two videos provide an interesting look at exactly what it takes to bring the characters of Booker DeWitt and Elizabeth to life in Irrational Games’ BioShock Infinite. The second video is a lot more insightful than the first, as it shows an actual recording session in combination with the in-game footage the dialogue was set to match. Sometimes…it takes a lot to get that perfect recording. Follow
