Francois Chang wants to keep kids off the street—video games will help him do that.

Outbreak Youth will host its 4th annual video game fundraising event on Feb. 4. The event has raised the attention of big name video game companies like SEGA and Konami, which are now sponsoring the event.

“We want to teach them the love of Jesus, of course, but we want to show them love too. What better way than to continue offering them something that they enjoy and that will keep them off the streets,” said Chang, the youth director at the church.

Outbreak Youth’s Video Game Day 2012, will be held at 87-47 111th St., Richmond Hill, N.Y. Doors open at 10 a.m. and cost $5.

The event is going to include Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 tournaments. If people don’t want to participate in the tournaments, games will be stationed around for pure enjoyment.

Modern Warfare 3 is two vs. two double elimination battle, while Super Street Fighter IV and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 will be one vs. one, single elimination. However, the fighting games will be best out of three matches, which give a lot of chances to win each round.

Last year the organization raised $600, and this year’s goal is to exceed that number. In addition to the cost of the event, raffle tickets will be sold to help meet their goal. The money is used for other events Outbreak Youth plans.

The game will be available for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Raiden from Metal Gear Solid 4 is back — as the main character — and the game’s taken on an action bent. That’s incredibly evident if you check out the trailer, which debuted on Saturday night at the Spike VGAs.

Konami’s Zombie Apocalypse: Never Die Alone is the sequel to the previous downloadable title (which was the same, minus the subtitle).

In this trailer, we see the new squad-based gameplay…in the form of a news broadcast. Well, that’s an interesting way to do it.

At least with this development, the title’s truer than ever. Hard to die alone when you’re in a squad.

Zombie Apocalypse: Never Die Alone hits PSN on October 25, and Xbox LIVE Arcade on October 26.

Silent Hill: Downpour is being moved from a release date sometime next month to the first quarter of 2012.

Konami’s confirmed this with MCV, who originally broke the story.

Maybe they’re just waiting for a bit more rain before it can officially be deemed a downpour?

In Downpour, you play as a convict named Murphy Pendleton, who finds his way to Silent Hill. As we all know, that’s not a good thing.

Konami announced today that there will be a “Limited Edition” version of the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection available this winter for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

The “Limited Edition” will include the game in specialized packaging and a 248-page artbook conveniently titled “The Art of Metal Gear Solid.” Kind of huge. The book, I mean.

The game’s features (whether you go limited edition or not) include:

Remastered from the ground up for PS3 & Xbox 360

Stunning 1080p graphics

60 frames-per-second graphics

Icons, sound effects, and all fonts upgraded for HD

User interface rebalanced for HD

Added right analog stick input and force feedback

Features Trophies on PS3 and Achievements on Xbox 360

Worldwide matchmaking for multiplayer (tentative)

Transfarring (save data sharing) compatible with PSP version (and, I assume, the PS Vita version, when that’s out)

The next version of DanceDanceRevolution, due out for Wii on October 11, has over 80 songs in it. A lot of these are master tracks, too — a very interesting move given that we’re mostly used to hearing remixes in the series.

Also, Vanilla Ice is going to be involved. Don’t clean your glasses, because you did just read that correctly. Konami has worked with both Vanilla Ice and Maxi Priest to create a “new sound for the franchise” and supposedly make the game more popular to fans of those two artists. So…we’re adding about ten more people. Rock.

The game includes the following master tracks:

More Than Alive, The Ready Set

Whip My Hair, Willow

A Year Without Rain, Selena Gomez & The Scene

Only Girl (In The World), Rihanna

This Time I Know It’s For Real, Donna Summer

Somebody To Love, Justin Bieber

Baby ft. Ludacris, Justin Bieber

Just The Way You Are, Bruno Mars

Nothin’ On You (feat. Bruno Mars), B.o.B.

Can’t Be Tamed, Miley Cyrus

Don’t You Want Me, The Human League

Just A Dream, Nelly

Beautiful Monster, Ne-Yo

Spice Up Your Life, Spice Girls

IN MY HEAD, Jason Derülo

Candy Girl, New Edition

Don’t Go, Yaz

Strip Me, Natasha Bedingfield

Rocket, Goldfrapp

And the following collaboration tracks:

Still Unbreakable, Des-ROW Ft. Vanilla Ice

Say a Prayer, Des-ROW with Maxi Priest

Konami’s latest action title, set to release in 2o12, is called Blades of Time. The action-fantasy stars a female bounty hunter (!) named Ayumi who is set to topple an oppressive regime in “Dragonland.”

Ayumi seems to be more of a treasure hunter than a bounty hunter, but in any case, she dual-wields swords to take down any creature that stands in her way. Ayumi also learns a series of spells to use in combat.

Dragonland itself is full of traps and a variety of locations. Blades of Time also features co-op, if you’re into that.

Konami used E3 to show off their HD collection for some of their older Silent Hill classics as well as the new Silent Hill Downpour for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and Silent Hill: Book of Memories for PlayStation Vita.

At E3, Konami showed off the series’ first 3D entry — Downpour. During the game, you’ll play a convict named Murphy Pendleton, whose delivery to jail is more than a little bit interrupted by a crash of some sort. He wanders into Silent Hill, and as we know (but he doesn’t), that is generally not a good idea.

Also, Korn is recording a song for the soundtrack. I guess it’s good to hear that they’re still sort of making music.

The Silent Hill HD Collection for PS3 will bring the second and third games in the series into a much prettier existence, at the very least, with updated graphics, new vocal talents and Trophies worked in.

Book of Memories is the first multiplayer title in the series, and it will link the past and present together as you play with a friend.

Both the HD Collection and Downpour are expected to release in the fourth quarter of this year. No release date has been set for Book of Memories yet, primarily because the PS Vita doesn’t even have a release date.

For the first time, these HD collections are making their way to the Xbox 360, as well.

The Metal Gear pack should release in November and will include Metal Gear Solid 2, Metal Gear Solid 3 and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker.

You’ll have to wait a little longer for the Zone of the Enders compilation, which will feature both the original game and the sequel. It’s out in 2012.

The Silent Hill collection, however, wasn’t given a release date. So fans of that series may have quite the wait ahead.

While the European version of No More Heroes: Heroes’ Paradise released in Europe yesterday, the North American version of the game has just now gotten a proper release date, thanks to Konami — August 16, 2011.

The high-def version of the original Wii game for PS3 (with Move support!) is slightly different from the Japanese release of the same name — that version had no Move compatibility. Japan is getting a slightly different release, the “Red Zone Edition,” that will include Move support.

Either way, it’ll be nice to see Travis make the jump to HD.
