I stumbled upon this today in my internet wanderings and was blown away by how awesome of an idea this is. A company Novel-T (from Brooklyn!) who has created a line of shirts meant to be like baseball jerseys for your favorite literary characters.

“Novel-T offers an opportunity to express your support for the all-stars of literature. For those who feel a connection to certain writers or characters–be it Walt Whitman’s expansive exultations, Huck Finn’s mischievous morality, or Bartleby’s seemingly inscrutable insubordination–these super-soft, jersey-style tees are the way to ‘wear your read.’”

Checking out the designs, they are of course broken down into two different teams: the American Canons and the National Puncs. Each shirt has a symbol on the front that represents the character’s name that is on the back above a number. I can see at least 3 shirts I want, and my first will have to be the Darcy shirt. But there’s characters for everyone!

On top of the fact that the designs are great, Novel-T also donates $1 of every purchase to two different charaties: 826NYC and Doctors Without Borders. I only hope to see more designs from Novel-T in the future! You can see all of the designs on their website, and you can order one for $24.95 here.

I am a noted Sex And the City Addict. I have re-watched seasons of this famed television show over and over again. Now, before the new SatC movie, arriving in theaters on May 24, you have get your Carrie fix with Candace Bushnell’s new novel entitled, The Carrie Diaries launched on April 27, 2010. This tells the story of how Carrie, at age 17, becomes the wonderful fashionista that we have come to love. We see her trials and tribulations as she experiences both love and journey of self-discovery.

The novel is already available pre-order at Amazon.com and other major bookstores.

I do want to pose one question to our readers: Are you still excited about all things Carrie? or is it all, old news?

Much to my surprise when going to read chapter one of Changes that was posted last night on Jim Butcher’s official site, I read that he plans to release the first four chapters online before the book comes out, with a new chapter each Tuesday! The book itself won’t be released until April 6th, so being able to read these first four chapters could be a good or bad thing depending on how bad they’ll make you want to be able to read the rest right after. I’m actually having a bit of that after reading the first chapter!

Spoilers to follow for those not caught up in the series or who want to wait for the full book! Ok now that you’ve been warned, Butcher definitely does not waste time in getting to the thick of the issue in Changes. The chapter starts off with a call from Susan Rodriguez, his former love, saying that their daughter had been taken and she was coming to see him. Not the best way for someone to find out they’re a father, especially someone like Harry Dresden, professional wizard.

In shock Harry heads off to McAnally’s, which was given my favorite description so far: “Mac’s place looks like Cheers after a mild apocalypse.” We are then treated to something not seen in any of the previous books yet, Mac talking in a full sentence. And he gives Harry some sound advice with handling the situation, but whether Harry heeds the advice and is careful about the situation is anyone’s guess. It’s easy to tell that there is a maelstrom of emotions swirling around inside of him and when Susan finally arrives in Chicago to speak with him I can see the potential of them boiling over.

So now I sit here anxiously awaiting the next chapter as I re-read the first chapter, hearing it in James Marster’s voice. So far it’s a good start to what I can only hope to be an amazing continuation of the Dresden Files!

Very interesting surprise from Visceral Games. While Dante’s Inferno may not be out until February 9, 2010, gamers will be able to play the demo this December. The “Gates of Hell” demo is the entire opening level of the game.

In the demo, players will experience the fighting mechanics and take on Death.

“Our main goal from the start of this project has been to create a journey that will make gamers truly feel like they are going through hell,” said executive producer Jonathan Knight. “The demo will give everyone some insight into how we are treating the story and a taste of the gameplay. And with nine more circles of hell to explore once the game comes out in February, we are literally just scratching the surface.”

The title has not been rated yet and is due out in North America on February 9, 2010 and in Europe on February 12, 2010.

EA quietly released a trailer for American McGee’s Alice. A teaser site went live as well but it doesn’t really have anything on it.

The trailer is awesome if you are an Alice fan! I just played through it twice because it surprised me and was just that awesome. The trailer also reveals the date for Alice as 2011 when she goes Back through the looking glass.

Last Thursday was the Lit. Angels 10th podcast. For such a special occassion, we decided to host an extra special podcast. With Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince recently hitting theaters we decided to make episode 10, the Harry Potter Podcast of Awesomeness. We took the time to discuss everything Harry Potter (both books and film); touching a bit on what makes them so fun, so popular and so controversial. There was a lot of just random Harry Potter conversation between Stealthyslyth and I, and in the end we gave a way the newest HP game for the Wii to one of our chat room participants and listener – ‘mystic_notions’. You can hear the whole episode here:

Unfortunately, we had some phone/program issues at the very end as I tried to give away the game prize! Forgive me, and we’ll be back again next week (August 6th), same time, same place for episode #11 – focusing on Banned and Challenged Books.
