“LittleBigPlanet” Adds a Much-Needed Dose of Cute to “Heavy Rain”

This week, two PS3-exclusives are crossing paths, and they’re two titles you wouldn’t expect – the “interactive drama” Heavy Rain and Media Molecule’s adorable platformer LittleBigPlanet. You can now dress your Sackboy or Sackgirl as any of the main characters – well, if you’re in the US, anyway. Readers in the UK, your definition of “now” is Wednesday, and the rest of Europe gets them on Thursday. So, what levels do you think are going to appear with these costumes in the wild? It wouldn’t be unrealistic to expect some recreations of portions of the game. I’m personally hoping for a new version of “Press X to Jason.” [Source: Kotaku]

“Play, Create, Share” Is Taken to the Next Level: LittleBigPlanet 2 is Announced

Today, SCEA announced its plans via an official press release to release Media Molecule’s LittleBigPlanet 2. Some of the promised features include a new storyline, better graphics, and more accessories for your Sackperson. One of the biggest draws promises to be in the “Create” part of the triumverate – you’ll be able to make entire new games instead of just levels this time. Want to make your own Sackperson pinball game? Go for it. Recreate Space Invaders? Why the heck not? You get the same tools that the developers have, and this time you get even more control. You can add cutscenes and multiplayer elements, as well as Sackrobots for players to interact with. Of course, with all of these fun levels and sagas to explore (including everything made using the first game), you can probably spend a ton of your time on playing the game. They’re making it even

    LittleBigPlanet Gets a Little More…Incredible

Your copy of LittleBigPlanet will be getting a little more “super” starting April 8. Well, as long as we’re talking about superheroes, anyway. (LBP was already quite super on its own, thanks.) The LittleBigPlanet costume kit for Disney/Pixar’s “The Incredibles” features nine costumes, including the stock “Incredibles” getup, and fashions to transform your Sackperson into allies Frozone and Edna Mode. A costume for nemesis Syndrome will also be available, as well as a “retro” Mr. Incredible. No capes allowed. Rounding out all this “Incredible” content is The Incredibles Level Kit, which gives you a Gallery Level to obtain all of the materials necessary for making your own Incredibles levels. The level kit includes locations from the film, such as the Parr family home and Nomanisan Island. A little earlier than that, the LittleBigStore will feature an April Fools’ “Fragrances” costume (no, I’m not making that up) for PS3, and an

Guest Hands On: Sony’s ModNation Racers

What I pretty much figured was nothing more than flash, flare and a whole lot of copying via Little Big Planet, actually turned out to be a retuned and cleaned up version of their modification system. Honestly, using the Playstation 3 to create, play and share was what LBP had started but ModNation Racers pretty much turned LBP on it’s rear and did it all better. They simplified and cleaned up a creation system to modify your racer, your car and completely create a track. You say you’re not that skilled in any of those areas? Not really an artist? It’s cool, they got it covered. The system walks you through it and gives you the tools in a palatable form that you can really get your hands on and doesn’t talk down to you while it does so. When tinkering with the racetrack building system, it encourages you to

    Little Big Planet gets water

We’ll have to see how many Bioshock levels will be created as Media Molecule announced today the addition of water to the game. Water will be added in a future update. It’s interesting that it’s taken this long to include water, but gamers must have been okay with cardboard water until now. Watch the sackboys and sackgirls play in water below:

    Little Big Planet Review

Platform: PlayStation 3 ESRB: E for everyone Genre: Platforming Number of players: 1-4 Publisher: SCEE (Sony Computer Entertainment Europe) Release Date: October 28th 2008 Official Website Writer: KagoMegan Rating: 9.3 Buy LittleAwesomePlanet After hearing about this game for months and missing out on the beta test, I was very excited to pick it up and test it out. Despite a delay in the release due to the lines from the Qu’ran which are sung in one of the game’s amazing music tracks, a few stores broke street date and sold the copies that they had in their possession. I rushed out to pick it up anyway because there was no way I was going to be forced to wait any longer to play this game (not that I condone stores breaking street dates in any way). My heart sank as I popped in LittleBigPlanet and the first thing that happened
