The video says it all, really. “Four amazing indie games in the most crossplatformish bundle we’ve ever done.”

The Humble Bundle, which started out offering PC, Mac and Linux games, is expanding to Android in their latest bundle deal, which starts today and ends in two weeks.

The pay-what-you-want bundle features three games in its main bundle package — Anomaly: Warzone Earth, Osmos and EDGE.

However, pay more than the average bundle price (at the very beginning of the sale, that was $7.07), and you’ll unlock the fun physics game World of Goo for your Android device.

But hey — even if you don’t have an Android tablet, phone or anything else using Google’s OS, you can still get in on this bundle. In addition to receiving the games for Android, you’ll also get them for PC, Mac and Linux. Four platforms for play, four games, your price. Still cool, as usual.

Also as usual for the Humble Bundle folks, you’ll be able to allocate some of your purchase to charity — this time, Child’s Play and the Electronic Frontier Foundation, two classic Humble Bundle choices. You can also allocate some of that cash to the Humble Bundle creators in a Humble Tip. Remember, they’ve got to keep the website going somehow.

Here’s a video showing off everything included in this bundle.

Level Up Labs brings players a cheap game that caters to both casual and hardcore gamers. Defender’s Quest, a combination of RPG and tower defense gameplay, places you in the middle of a settlement bursting with monsters. In between the realm of life and death the protagonist, a young lady, assembles a group of people not affected by the plague. Together they try to escape this unruly world.

The game is only $6.99. Gamers don’t have to worry about paying for expansions because all future updates are free when you buy the game. Level Up Labs plans to release a bonus version of the game in a few months at $9.99. The bonus version will have secrets and extended end-game content.

The game runs on Windows, Mac and Linux operating systems, so everyone can have fun. The game also offers customizable characters, which is a pet peeve of mine, and comes with over 34 maps.

Defender’s Quest offers casual missions, which can be completed in a few hours, and advanced and extreme missions that can take up to 30+ hours to complete.

If you’re a fan of either tower defense or RPGs, this could the next game that distracts you from your work. It’s better than saying you were playing CastleVille

The title, a sequel to BioShock (which Feral has already brought to the other OS), will go on sale January 2012.

The game allows you to play as one of the iconic Big Daddy characters on a quest to escape Rapture, which has recently been repopulated with Little Sisters following the kidnapping of multiple little girls from communities nearby the undersea city.

The Mac version of the game also features the multiplayer mode found in the console and PC versions of the game, where players take part in the civil war that ultimately tore Rapture to pieces before the first game.

“BioShock 2 shows Rapture in a completely new light,” said David Stephen, Managing Director of Feral Interactive. “By allowing players to be a Big Daddy, it explores the emotional consequences of the Rapture project.”

The game will be available through Feral’s online store as well as the Mac App Store.

In a short update from Travis Baldree over at Runic Games, it was announced that Torchlight II, originally planned for release this year, well…won’t hit that mark. Doesn’t mean they didn’t try, at least!

“…[W]e made a good run at that,” Baldree wrote. “We’ve come to the realization, however, that getting a game of this scope up to the quality and polish level we want to achieve is going to take a little longer; especially since we want to run a small beta before release to ensure that our launch is smooth.”

Today, Runic released a State of the Game podcast that you can take a listen to if you’re wondering what, exactly, led to this delay. But Travis still hopes you won’t be too sad about the game’s delay:

Besides, you’re all playing Skyrim right now anyway, aren’t you? Or Battlefield 3? Or Uncharted 3? Or Saints Row 3? Or Arkham City? Or Skyward Sword? Or Minecraft? Or Modern Warfare 3? Or Dark Souls? Or Assassin’s Creed Revelations?

Those are awesome games. When Torchlight 2 goes live, we want it to be awesome too – all the way through.

As a result, Playdead’s been able to buy back the company from its early investors, and they’re also starting work on their next title.

“With the success that Limbo has achieved, we felt this was the ideal time to fully regain our independence,” said Dino Patti, Playdead CEO. “We are grateful to everyone who supported us over the past few years, and look forward to forging new partnerships that will both let us reach new heights as a studio and give our director, Arnt Jensen, room to grow creatively.”

Playdead also announced that a Mac version of Limbo is now in development.

Valve announced today that Portal 2‘s first DLC, “Portal 2: Peer Review” will be released October 4.

The free content (for PC/Mac, Xbox 360 and PS3) is primarily a new addition to the game’s co-op that continues the story of Atlas and P-Body. New challenge modes will be added to both single-player and co-op, and there will be leaderboards added as well so you can get even more competitive with your friends after you work with them.

Now, this is a little bit after their target “Summer” date of release, so to soothe the pain that is waiting on free things, here’s some free things you don’t have to wait for — the third volume of “Songs to Test By” and a new Turret Comic.
I kind of wish I could kick this game’s ass.

I knew the relationship was going to be a dysfunctional one after the first few minutes. I’d selected my character (a tall, oddly-styled woman) and my difficulty level (easy), and started my journey at the local dojo. The dojo in question, by the way, was currently overrun with frat boys. Frat boys who just happened to be my enemies.

Granted, this isn’t too far away from my day-to-day life. You should’ve seen the epic bar brawl I witnessed last weekend. Frat boys may indeed be a worthy enemy, but I almost start to worry about the person who made these decisions. The game itself almost seems like a caricature of someone’s real life. That someone hates frat boys, the police and politicians. I understand the last two, but the first one makes no sense, given that AGO Games is a French company. Je suis désolée.

That someone also has a serious ass-spanking fetish. (Since the game’s name is The Asskickers, I’m going to use “ass” as much as possible, because I normally wouldn’t get to. If you hate this, imagine that I’m talking about a donkey.)

Actually, the donkey thing is pretty much the perfect way to describe the game. From far away, you think it’s a horse, with a beautiful mane and tail. Get there, and it’s actually a stinky burro.

I hate to say that, I really do. If you know me, you know I’m a huge fan of beat-em-ups, and on its face, The Asskickers is supposed to be a funny, insightful game with social commentary on the current economic climate. Instead, it is unwieldy, absurd and at times, just plain broken.

I get that part of the game’s intent is to be just a little bit harder than what we’re used to, but I think the wrong things were done to make that happen. The hard things here aren’t working. It takes a perfect storm to create the kind of hard game that you want to tackle over and over again (see Demon’s Souls), but here, the lightning never manages to strike.

You fight the same enemies over and over, use the same three(ish) moves over and over and every level ends with…well, take a look:

See what I mean about a spanking fetish? This could have been hilarious, but the context just makes it creepy.

I have to admit, I couldn’t finish this game. There’s one reason why: Aside from clunky gameplay that feels more like a Flash title, a great majority of the difficulty comes from the fact that once you lose your lives (all three of ‘em), you’ve got to start over from the beginning of the level, whether you’ve made it past the first screen or not. Your “continue” here is really more like a “retry.” There’s not a hint of continuity about it. Take points away from me. Do something that doesn’t require me to play the same boring level 20 times.

It’s 2011. Here’s what I expect from my beat-em-ups:

Character motion that makes sense. If I press up, the character should just walk up, not turn around and walk up.

More than four attacks, and more control over which moves I perform. Punch and kick should not be the same button.

A story that at least makes a little bit of sense, even when it’s translated from French.

More than two kinds of enemies per level.

Item pickups that don’t require surgical precision.

A “continue” function that lets me pick up a lot closer to my place of death.

No spankings.

Unfortunately, The Asskickers just can’t deliver.

I do have one positive point here, and it’s the fact that the game does look pretty nice. If only looking okay was worth 1.6 GB of space on my hard drive, I wouldn’t be deleting this.

I should probably finish my story, right?

So, I pick my girl, I kick some frat boy asses, and I reach what should be the end of the level. But nothing happens. I can’t exit the room, and my Sensei is just standing there, saying nothing. I spent fifteen minutes just walking around that screen, doing anything I could to avoid playing that short section of that very first level over again.

I still had to restart to get him to open the door the next time. I hoped that wouldn’t be indicative of the rest of the game’s quality, but after that first ass-whipping…yeah, those dreams were shattered. I’m genuinely disappointed. In concept, the game shows so much promise, but the execution isn’t worth your time. Or a friend’s — the game features a two-player mode (best played when you have a full-size keyboard), but I recommend not putting your friends through this.

Simply download the client here for PC or Mac and get started.

You’ll be able to explore several portions of the online world, including The Venture Explorer and Avant Gardens. I’d argue that the best part of the experience would be the minifig creation process.

Of course, you might get tired of that small area pretty quickly. If that happens, a subscription’s only $10 a month and you don’t have to buy the client anymore, either. Pretty affordable compared to other MMO experiences, right?

Valve announced today that Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is currently planned for release in early 2012 via PlayStation network, Xbox LIVE Arcade and Steam.

The game will feature new maps, characters and weapons as well as updates of classic content. The game will also add new modes, matchmaking functions, leaderboards and more.

“Counter-Strike took the gaming industry by surprise when the unlikely MOD became the most played online PC action game in the world almost immediately after its release in August 1999,” said Doug Lombard, VP of Marketing at Valve. “For the past 12 years, it has continued to be one of the most-played games in the world, headline competitive gaming tournaments and selling over 25 million units worldwide across the franchise. CS: GO promises to expand on CS’ award-winning gameplay and deliver it to gamers on the PC as well as the next gen consoles and the Mac.”

The game will be playable at both PAX Prime and the London Games Festival.

Here’s what appears to be an early trailer for the game:

A Disney game has managed to fly completely over my head, it seems. In Disney Universe, set for release this fall on PS3, Wii, Xbox 360, PC and Mac, you play as…well, I don’t know what to call them. Perhaps “things that you dress up” is sufficient? Anyway, you dress up these things as Disney characters and explore six worlds from various Disney films (Pixar included). Your exploration is aided by characters like Alice, Mike, Sulley and Stitch.

I’m not entirely sure what the point is, but the press release was pretty sure to note that this is the first time some characters and world have been united. I am not sure if Kingdom Hearts counts in this tally. If it does, I’ll switch that “first” to “third,” because you could totally summon some characters no matter where you were. So, ha?

You can also team up with three of your friends for co-op action.

At least you can dress the “things you dress up” (seriously, I just looked for a name and I can’t find one other than calling these things “new classic characters”) as Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Donald now. That was the point of this post. And it’s kind of cute. Check out the critters below.
