Glossy white Xbox 360 starts shipping today

Over on Major Nelson’s blog, he’s taken the time to announce a new “Special Edition 4GB Kinect Family Bundle” for Xbox 360. The bundle contains one of each of the following, all in glossy white: an Xbox 360 4GB console, a Kinect sensor, an Xbox 360 wireless controller and a copy each of Kinect Sports and Kinect Adventures. The console also includes three months of Xbox LIVE Gold. All of that for the usual bundle price of $299.99. Nice, especially if you’ve been waiting for a white Kinect. The bundle’s controller will also go on sale separately for $49.99. This starts shipping today, except in Europe and Brazil, where residents will have to wait a few months.   Follow

Xbox 360’s wireless controller goes 2.0

A brand-new Xbox 360 controller featuring an adjustable D-pad is on the way in November. Major Nelson made the announcement this morning, accompanied by a YouTube video, reposted below. Not only does the whole thing feature a pretty slick color change and monochromatic buttons, but the super-shiny D-pad raises and lowers to make it either incredibly clicky or practically nonexistent. The new controller will be packaged with new Play and Charge kits starting November 9 in the U.S. for $64.99. (Sorry, Europe – you’re waiting ’til February.) Almost makes you forget about that Xbox LIVE price hike, doesn’t it? I won’t fault Major Nelson – the comments he’s getting today have to be ten times better than what he got yesterday. Follow

Community Vibes talk with Major Nelson and FFXIII faceplate?

Community Vibes is this weekend in Miami sponsored by the GamertagRadio crew. Pretty late last night, Godfree released this video with Major Nelson talking about the event. No offense Major Nelson, but I don’t want to see you in a Speedo. It is fun and great to see our friends at GamertagRadio get some help and promotion for their event. In the video there is a quick look at a faceplate. But not just any faceplate, it’s one for Final Fantasy XIII. A faceplate that hasn’t been announced in any pre-order yet. The video may be hinting that there might be a FFXIII faceplate coming. That beauty of a faceplate could be a deciding factor for many trying to decide which version of FFXIII to get. Here are the details for the party. If you go, please let us know and say hi to the GamertagRadio crew. WHAT: “Community Vibes

    New Dashboard will be faster

The New Xbox Experience is still going through some growing pains. In Major Nelson’s last podcast he promises that the next 360 update will be mostly focused on improved technical performance. “We are making the guide faster. The team has done some really good stuff around making performance enhancements. However, ‘performance enhancements’ doesn’t sound right because it sounds like we’re going to give the guide a little blue pill, and we’re not doing that. “Whatever we call it (and it’s not going to be called the new NXE), but whatever the next version of the dashboard is called, it’s better with a lot of very cool new features. That update will be out later this year.” Follow
