    Review: Marvel vs. Capcom 3

Rating: T (for Teen) Genre: Fighting Publisher: Capcom Developer: Capcom, Fighling Release Date: February 15, 2011 BUY It’s been eleven years since the release of Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes. This hugely successful game developed a strong cult following amongst not only fighting game enthusiasts, but casual gamers alike. Released across seven different platforms during the past decade, it was no surprise to anyone that it’s successor would be one of the most anticipated fighters this generation. The long awaited third installment, Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds, finally dropped on February 15th for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. (There is no arcade version planned at the moment; a very telling notion about the evolution of fighting games.) It features full online support, including leader boards and boasts a roster of 36 characters. (That’s twenty less characters than it’s predecessor, however.) Two additional characters

Dark Horse Comics Will Be Digital (Eventually)

Dark Horse, is the latest comic publisher to go digital. They’re joining the charge led by Marvel and DC in bringing their comics to digital formats and hopefully, they’ll have learned from the mistakes made by their predecessors. The digital versions aren’t yet available, but you can sign up here (http://digital.darkhorse.com) to get updates on the pending digital versions. However, at C2E2 (Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo) this past weekend, people were able to get a look at the new iOS technology that Dark Horse had on hand. While the launch for their digital distributions was originally slated for this past January, due to Apple’s restrictions on items available for purchase outside of iTunes, they were forced into a later release. And what they had at C2E2 was only the beta version. Hopefully, we’ll see something more concrete soon.

    GamingAngels Comic Pulls

Welcome to a brand new series on GamingAngels, Comic Pulls. Right after College, I was working hard, for not very much money. But with the money I had, I found entertainment in comics. As GamingAngels, started and grew, I had less and less time to read comics. I bought less and then at some point stopped going to the comic book store altogether. Every now and then, I would hear about a storyline and want to check it out, but I didn’t even have my own store to go to. That is changing now. I’ve decided that I want to enjoy comics again. I want to dive into the worlds and find new artists and writers that I love. With that, I am starting this article. It’s not actually scheduled for a Wednesday because this article will highlight what I ended up picking up Wednesday from my local comic book

Beenox named Activision’s lead developer on Spider-Man titles

Activision Publishing announced today that one of their development studios, Beenox, is now the primary developer of their Spider-Man games. Apparently their last game, Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, pretty much sealed that deal. “We are thrilled with this opportunity to continue our close, collaborative relationship with Activision, Marvel and everyone’s friendly, neighborhood hero, Spider-Man,” said Dee Brown, Studio Head, Beenox.  “Being able to map out Spider-Man’s interactive future gives us the creative freedom to really craft the best gaming experience for the fans.” So, at the very least, it sounds like we’ll be able to look forward to more Spider-Man games from them in the future. I mean, their website does say that they’re “le studio le plus cool à Québec!” (Or, the coolest studio in Quebec, if you’re not into French.) Sounds like a winner to me.

Another week, another two characters revealed for Marvel vs. Capcom 3

Like many weeks before, it’s time for another Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds character announcement. This week, our special guests are Phoenix and Haggar. Phoenix, who you might also know as Dr. Jean Grey, uses the power of the Phoenix Force to unleash the Dark Phoenix when she’s knocked out with a full Hyper Combo gauge. She, naturally, is the Marvel side’s addition to the roster. In Capcom’s corner, we get former wrestler Mike Haggar, who deals with Metro City’s gang problems. Here’s video of the two in action: They join a giant list of characters we’ve gone over quite a bit at this point. Marvel vs. Capcom 3 releases on February 15.

Death in the future for Fantastic Four?

In comics the Fantastic Four have been a fan favorite for almost 50 years. The team has been made up of four characters that have strong personalities. But now we are looking at how the Fantastic Four will deal with a death of one of their own. In the series, Three, one of the team died causing a ripple effect on other Marvel titles. Marvel executive editor Tom Brevoort stated in an interview with CNN, “What we’re actually doing is completely transmogrifying the ‘FF’ as a thing. At the end of this story, there won’t even be a book called ‘Fantastic Four’ anymore; there will be something new that will be interesting and exciting. Out of this moment, a new thing will be born.” The first issue for a new Fantastic Four series called FF will be subtitled “A Beginning” and will be in stores in March. Oddly enough it’s

How many more characters are they going to announce before the game’s release on February 15? Well, we’ve got a while to find out, but I’d say at least ten wouldn’t be pushing it (and Capcom has been announcing characters fairly often, so we could very well see more). Watch videos of these ladies doin’ their thing below. (Is it just me,

This time, you’re making the mutants – and you’re making the choices to determine their destinies. (Hence, the title.) It at least sounds cool, right?
