All right WoW lore nerds, we have some new info that has come out thanks to an interview with PC Gamer UK regarding Cataclysm. Do not read further if you don’t want to be spoiled! On the Worgen starting zone “The worgen starting zone actually begins in a flashback. Gilneas is besieged by the Forsaken and gripped with rumors of plague. You meet a dissenter, Crowley, who believes that Gilneas’ isolationism is a mistake and that they should rejoin the Alliance. When the worgen curse comes, you and Crowley lead the defensive, but are pushed back to the city cathedral, where you realize that the worgen you are fighting are your own friends and neighbors driven feral. As you realize this, the curse takes you. Flash forward to some months later, when you’re captured in the countryside by your old friend Crowley. From here, the portion we saw at BlizzCon

World of Warcraft Faction changes now live
Blizzard talked about it before and today has gone live with the ability for users to change their Faction. Blizzard employee posted the following on their message board: ” The new World of Warcraft Faction Change service is now live. As we mentioned previously, [ http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=18031079410&sid=1 ] we’ve been in the process of developing a new service for World of Warcraft that will allow players to change their faction from Alliance to Horde or Horde to Alliance for a fee. After purchasing a Faction Change for a character, a player can choose any race of the opposite faction that is compatible with the character’s class. For more information on the Faction Change service, please read the FAQ, [ http://us.blizzard.com/support/article.xml?locale=en_US&tag=FCFAQ ] or visit the Faction Change page [ https://www.worldofwarcraft.com/account/faction-change-intro.html ] to get started. Based on further community feedback, we have also decided to offer a race change service in the future.

First Look: World of Warcraft: Cataclysm
The first game demo I made a beeline for was to check out the next World of Warcraft expansion Cataclysm. The addition of these new races has piqued the interest of my lore nerd side so I was quite eager to go and play these new races for a level or two in order to get a feel of what Blizzard has planned for the story. With the Worgen demo, we had to start out at level six as they wanted to keep the surprises from levels 1-5 a secret until later on. Those levels include some “surprises” they didn’t want to spoil just yet. As most may know, theWorgen are the result of Archmage Arugal calling down protection to help fight the Scourge that had infiltrated Gilneas, however these beasts proved too strong and began to affect the populace, turning them into Worgen. In the starting area, you’re battling

Guild changes coming in Cataclysm
Guilds will have some new things to look forward to with the new expansion as well. As mentioned in the initial announcement for Cataclysm, guilds will have a new leveling system as well as guild talents. Blizzard later elaborated on this new system in a later panel, and what they have in store is quite interesting. In Cataclysm, you will have the ability to help gain experience by doing daily quests, participating in battlegrounds and downing bosses in raids which in turn will allow you to level up your guild. Right now levels only go up to 20, but I’m sure it takes quite a bit to get there. What does leveling up do towards helping out the guild? Well as you level you will be able to put points into guild talents which will give benefits to guild members such as cheaper repair bills and even mass resurrections, both

Dungeons and Raids and… Hogger?
Have you been wondering amidst all of this Cataclysm talk “Hey wait a minute… what about the Lich King?” Well the Dungeons and Raids panel finally gave us what we were have been looking forward to: the attack on Icecrown Citadel. And from what they described this is going to be one heck of a fight. There will be the 10-25 man raid against the Lich King, but there will also be three 5-man dungeons for players to go through. Each of these dungeons can be unlocked by doing an epicquestline that will lead you through each of the dungeons. But the main event will be interesting as to get to the top of the citadel, you will have to race against the opposite faction. In this battle, you will have to defend your zeppelin as well aslaunch attacks on the opposing faction’s zeppelin with the use of rocket packs.

Cataclysm Class Changes Panel
Later on during day one of Blizzcon, there was an interesting panel held regarding the classes in WoW. I was very intrigued by this since two new races and new class combinations were announced. Ghostcrawler opened up this panel, and we got to hear some very interesting things, some of which may cause you to panic. One of the first things that they talked about were the new races and going into some specifics regarding what their racials and their classes would be. Each of the new races will have some interesting racials, and I think that the Goblins have the better set. First off, Goblins will have Rocket Jump, which will alow them jump 20 yards every two minutes and Rocket Barrage which launches your rockets from your belt at an enemy causing fire damage. They will also have Best Deals Anywhere, meaning that they will get the best

World of Warcraft: Cataclysm
Right after the live blog that we did (which again I apologize for being late for haha) I rushed my way down from the press room to go and attend the WoW panel about the next expansion, Cataclysm. In this expansion, Deathwing has escaped from the plane of Earth elements and destroyed Azeroth as we know it. Many areas have changed, and they showed shots of familiar sights to us which have changed drastically. The Barrens has been torn in half with a river of lava flowing down the center.Desolace, having had water restored, has blossomed into a lush green area. Auberdine has been destroyed and a new base established. I can only imagine what the other areas are going to look like. We will also finally be able to use flying mounts inAzeroth instead of just relying on gryphons for our travelling needs. We will also have access to

WoW Females are the fantasies of lonely mens’ dreams
Women Gamers.com has announced their 2009 Scholarship winner for National Computer Camp. Congratulations to Rachel A. (age 12) from California! Her winning essay focuses on what she would like to improve in World of Warcraft. The essay question was: What is your favorite video game, and how would you change the design to improve it? Rachel has some strong opinions. The WoW females (especially the Draenei, Blood Elves, Night Elves, and Humans) are the fantasies of lonely mens’ dreams. The Night Elves, Blood Elves, and Draenei are made to look really sexy and their clothing is very skimpy. The Human females’ breasts are huge. I’m not kidding! They look like they had plastic surgery. It’s not surprising that some lady gamers on WoW are playing as dudes. I would make the Elves and Draenei a bit more innocent-looking and reduce the Humans’ teats a bit. I think they would look
