ASTRO Gaming and Konami Digital Entertainment have announced a limited edition run of the ASTRO A40 audio system for the PlayStation 3, including the brand new PS3 compatible MixAmp, featuring Metal Gear Solid 4.

This actually brings a new level of cool to the Twilight series. Turns out that not only tween girls and slight embarrassed female adults are fans of Twilight. Metal Gear Solid creator, Hideo Kojima a “huge fan” of the series and will be judging a fan art contest themed around New Moon.

He will be judging along with Evangelion character designer/manga creator Yoshiyuki Sadamoto. The third judge is Ryuji Gotsubo, the creator of the Sasameke manga and the illustrator of the Japanese edition of the Twilight novels. The illustration contest is being held by Japanese art website pixiv.

“Sadamoto will award one winner with an autographed painting set. Kojima will award one autographed copy of his recent Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots game. Gotsubo is offering an autographed set of the first three Twilight tankōbon novel volumes, which cover the same material as the first American novel volume. The pixiv website’s premium members will also vote on 10 winners who will each receive two tickets for the film. The deadline for entry is November 15. The film will open in North America on November 20 and in Japan on November 28, according to ANN.com.”

There are plans for a Twilight graphic novel in the works drawn by Korean artist Young Kim. No word if Kojima is “Team Edward” or “Team Jacob”.

Metal Gear Solid 4

Konami has announced that Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of Patriots has joined the Playstation 3 Greatest Hits collection. That means the game is now cheaper. On June 16, the game will be re-released for the new low price of $29.99. The original Metal Gear Solid game will be coming to Playstation Network on June 18 for $9.99.

“Since it’s debut in 1987, the Metal Gear franchise has stood the test of time and continues to break new standards in story-telling and gameplay,” said Anthony Crouts, Vice President of Marketing for Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc., “These two releases are a perfect way to bridge the original game that created this genre with the latest masterpiece that brought it to an all-new level.”

Konami had a press conference earlier today where Kojima continued to be the belle of the ball with announcements of four brand new games.

Metal Gear Solid Arcade was announced and is a Playstation 3 exclusive. The title comes with special 3D goggles. It will be released in Japan this year and Konami is trying to figure out how to bring it to other regions.

Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker video was shown as well. . The main character is Naked Snake, and set after MGS3 and a true sequel. Kojima is heavily involved with the title as well as the MGS4 team.

Metal Gear Solid Rising was next. Kojima stated that it’s for next-gen consoles.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow is the last game to be announced. It stars a character called Gabriel whose mask can bring the dead back to life. It won’t be out until at least 2010. Here is a video shown in 2008 at GDC until we get the new one.

So I’m a little late in dusting off the front of my MGS4 preorder but hey…busy week .

I must say that I am REALLY looking forward to this release.

In the spirit of MGS4 release day…as I got off of work today I caved in and bought the Metal Gear Solid 3-pack that Circuit City has for 24.99 this week. /gasp

I had truly forgotten how much I LOVED and sometimes SUCKED at this game .

It’s kind of refreshing to see the old PS graphics…lots of great memories =)

I never did get to try the BETA…I keep getting this stupid DNS server error on my PS3…If anyone has any tips on how to fix that pppllleaasse yell them at me…it’s SO frustrating!

Neway I just had to post a blog commemorating this fantastic release. Fantastic because this is the game I’ve been waiting for, forever!
