World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria announced at Blizzcon 2011
The rumors have proven true! Today at Blizzcon, Chris Metzen announced the upcomming expansion World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria. And of course with this expansion we will be given the new race to play: Pandaren. Plus we will also be getting a new class: the Monk. Alliance warships prowl the seas. Horde armies thunder across Kalimdor. Tensions between these factions edge closer to erupting in a savage war that threatens to consume all of Azeroth. Against this backdrop of impending conflict, an uncharted island mysteriously appears… Shrouded in fog since the world was sundered more than ten thousand years ago, the ancient realm of Pandaria has remained unspoiled by war. Its lush forests and cloud-ringed mountains are home to a complex ecosystem of indigenous races and exotic creatures. Will the mists of Pandaria part to reveal the world’s salvation… or will the battle to control this breathtaking new land

‘Final Fantasy XIV’ approaches version 2.0
A whole year after the initial, catastrophic launch of Square Enix’s Final Fantasy XIV MMO, it looks like it’s time to finally relaunch the title. That means that the free ride is over, compadres. After Version 2.0 launches in November or December, the billing begins. (The PlayStation 3 version of the game is also supposedly back on.) If you’ve already played the game and have an account, you won’t automatically get billed — the team realized that you may have run far, far away from the game (or you might not see the announcement that version 2.0 is almost ready). You’ll only be billed once you reactivate this feature. Square Enix has been fairly thorough in outlining everything regarding the relaunch — take a look here.

First Look: Tera
Tera has been one MMO that I’ve been keeping my eyes on. It seems like it will have a little something new due to being pitched as an Action MMORPG (AMMORPG?). Well I was pleased as punch when I got to go to En Masse Entertainment’s offices during PAX prime in Seattle to get hands on with Tera. Even better? It was hands on in a five man boss fight! First we were shown some new images from the game and a trailer to give us a taste of the game. After we were given the choice to pick the roles we’d like to do the boss encounter with. I chose the archer since it’s a class I’m most familiar with. Our Editor-in-Chief, @Cherithe, was with me and she sat in to play the Mage. Once everyone was ready to go, we started off this mini-dungeon. After a Leroy Jenkins

‘Dragon Quest X’ is more similar to an MMO than you’d think
Square Enix recently revealed additional information about the next installment in the RPG series Dragon Quest. The next game, appropriately titled Dragon Quest X, appears to have quite a few things in common with an MMO — except for the fact that it will be on the Wii (and Wii U). First off, you’ll have to be online to play everything after the first few hours. You don’t have to play with others, but you can’t do it all in an isolated fashion. And here’s the bigger thing — there will be additional charges for that online play. In the latest FAQ post over at Square Enix (translated by Andriasang), the company confirmed their intent to charge fees for online content. We’ll just hope that if this is an MMO, Square Enix has learned a lot since the release of Final Fantasy XIV, a game which still hasn’t actually been

‘Star Wars: The Old Republic’ supply to be limited by EA
For a change, if you’re not on the bandwagon for an MMO early on, you might have to wait to play. EA announced at a Gamescom press conference yesterday that they’ll be limiting the number of copies of Star Wars: The Old Republic available at launch. Why do this? Well, at launch, many MMOs experience server crashes and really long queues to even enter the game you’re paying for monthly. EA is trying to avoid this — to give a great experience to a lot of people instead of selling copies so quickly that everything’s overloaded on Day One. As of now, EA hasn’t said exactly which number they’re hitting before shutting off the sales, but they know what it is and it applies to both retail and digital copies. (Via Game Informer, since it’s not like we’re in Germany or anything.)

New RealID feature not going to be premium says Blizzard
I’ve enjoyed following what Blizzard has been doing with the RealID functionality. I like the community aspect, and it’s great to keep in touch with friends on other World of Warcraft realms as well as some friends who just play Starcraft II. What I haven’t liked is that some of the more interesting features like the mobile auction house and guild chat for WoW come at an extra cost. Thankfully their latest feature for WoW players who have RealID activated is that you can invite your friends on other realms of the same factions to a party. And as stated today this feature will remain free! We’re happy to announce that the testing period for World of Warcraft’s new Real ID Party system is now complete, and the feature is now officially live! We received a lot of great feedback from the community throughout the course of our testing, and
