‘Modern Warfare 3’ multiplayer trailer debuts

That game you’ve been playing for years has a new installment coming out on November 8. You know you’re going to buy it, but just in case you needed some convincing…Activision’s released this Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 trailer to help you make up your mind. Perfect way to get the COD XP weekend off to a start, I suppose. Follow

‘Battlefield 3’ has 64-person multiplayer and looks good doing it

Excuse me while I wipe the drool off my keyboard. That’s what kind of ridiculous this Battlefield 3 trailer happens to be. Here, you’ll see a 64-player battle in the Caspian Sea. You’ll have traditional ground troops, sure, but you can also take to the skies…or a tank. Kaboom. Of course, my main concern here is that sometimes I have problems coordinating things with less than ten people. What happens when I’m trying to get 31 others to cooperate? Oh, the crashing and burning that will happen. Follow

Final ‘Red Dead Redemption’ DLC pack features familiar faces

As a sort of “thanks” to everyone still playing Red Dead Redemption multiplayer (because yeah, that’s still kinda popular — who knew?) a special free DLC pack is on the way this September. The “Myths and Mavericks” bonus pack will add new fan-favorite characters for multiplayer use, as well as new locations for Deathmatch, Grab the Bag, Gang matches, and additional online modes. A future title update will also fix the Undead Overrun settings, due to popular demand. Follow

Activision bringing ‘GoldenEye’ to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 this fall

We’ve already seen a remake of N64’s GoldenEye 007 for Wii, but now an even better version, GoldenEye 007: Reloaded, is hitting the PlayStation 3 (with Move support) and Xbox 360 this fall. “We are beyond ecstatic to debut GoldenEye 007: Reloaded to the millions of fans who have been clamoring for it to arrive on Sony and Microsoft home consoles,” said David Oxford, Executive Vice President at Activision Publishing. “And now with full PlayStation Move functionality, 007 fans all around the world can play the game in full HD in more ways than ever before.” In addition to the story campaign most people remember about the game, developer Eurocom is including a new set of “MI6 Ops Missions” that feature specific Assault, Elimination, Stealth and Defense objectives. Multiplayer will include the storied four-player splitscreen as well as full-fledged 16-player online matches that add more characters, maps and weapons than

Latest ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops’ map pack launching June 28

Activision and Treyarch’s third map pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops, Annihilation, will hit Xbox 360 on June 28. PlayStation 3 date? We’ll just say “later.” Mostly because it hasn’t been announced yet. Exclusivity deals, hurray! Annihilation will feature four new multiplayer maps — Hangar 18, Drive-In, Silo and Hazard — as well as one new zombies “experience,” Shangri-La. The latter, according to Studio Head Mark Lamia, is “an exotic and mysterious map filled with deadly traps, dark secrets and innovative gameplay that will challenge even the most daring Zombie hunters.” Sounds like you’re in the jungle. (Why am I secretly wishing for an Uncharted 2 crossover?) To celebrate the map pack’s release, Treyarch’s hosting a Double XP weekend starting Friday, July 1. Here’s your first look at the maps. ‘Uncharted 3’ beta starts June 28/July 4

Nathan Drake will be fully back up to his usual antics in November, but if you want a taste now, you’ll get a shot soon, or maybe even a bit earlier than soon — if you’re part of a select few. Who are these few? PlayStation Plus members, for a start. The rest of the few will be comprised of those who have a voucher from Infamous 2. These folks get access on June 28. Everyone else gets is July 4. Nice to not have to perform weird tasks to get a code, right? In beta, you’ll get to test out nine different modes, as well as use four different characters. You’ll be able to make it all the way to level 25 and use some boosters, as well. Here’s a video from IGN so you can get a good look at one of the maps: More Uncharted 3: Drakes

First Look: Gears of War 3 Multiplayer

I’ve been a fan of the Gears of War series since the first game was released back in 2006. The story of the series for the two games we’ve had so far, has been engaging and the gameplay has been fun. So of course I was excited for the Gears of War 3 beta to begin so I could get a look at what’s coming next. The beta is only online multiplayer so there’s no story involved and for the most part, it plays just like Gears of War 2 multiplayer.  The shotgun is cheesy, meaning you can just walk up to anyone and one-shot them, just like it was in the beginning of the Gears 2 multiplayer before; I believe it was patched out of the game. There are a few new things that are nice. I enjoy the new maps a lot; the layouts of the maps are

Take a look at the “Medal of Honor” Experience

The latest video showing off what you’ll have in less than a month (since the release date is Oct. 12 and all that) takes a very specific look at multiplayer in Kandahar Marketplace. You’re working with an objective in mind this time, in an environment with the same sort of lush feel as marketplaces in Uncharted 2. Are you looking forward to the MoH reboot? Go behind-the-scenes with multiplayer in “GoldenEye 007”

The developers are listening, people. They know what you want. Or at least they think they do, and they’re talking about it in this behind-the-scenes video for GoldenEye 007. The video features fans of the N64 original talking about their experiences with the old game, and developers of the new version talking about the features they’ve implemented, including over 50 characters (only eight of which are from the Bond series, unfortunately), ten maps, and enough game modifiers to keep you playing forever. At least you’ll be playing with your friends. With split-screen multiplayer just like in the old days, you’ll be shouting at one another in no time. Follow

Rockstar fires a warning shot for “Red Dead Redemption” cheaters

All you varmints and cowboys with less-than-optimal Honor levels when it comes to playing Red Dead Redemption had better listen up. Rockstar knows what you’re doing, see, and if you’ve been using hacked game saves to make your single- or multiplayer experiences more awesome, you’ve got less than a week to straighten up and fly right, or else you’re out of the game for good. But you’ve got one chance for redemption before the official banhammer is swung. Delete your hacked game saves (in both online and offline modes) to show that you’re truly a reformed player, and you can save yourself from a life without online RDR. After deleting, you’ll have to go online to prove that you’re clean by finishing a gang hideout in your new multiplayer save, or play until you gain access to the MacFarlane’s Ranch safehouse in single-player. Until you do that, there’s an execution
