‘Hot Shots Golf 5′ getting new content later this year

Anoop over at AndriaSang posted translated information from Japanese games magazine Famitsu yesterday. Another game is getting PlayStation Move support, and it’s one that actually makes sense for a change! Popular golf game Hot Shots Golf 5, despite being released in the U.S. over three years ago, is getting ready to make your golf swing translate into something cuter and living room-friendly. The update, which will be free, arrives (in Japan at least) on July 14. This addition also includes 3D support, but we’ll pretend that’s not happening. Sony will also release a PlayStation Move and Eye bundle featuring the game in Japan in September. Dates and/or bundle existence has not been confirmed in any other regions. If you’re really wanting to get into the game, you can try out the item pictured. I have no idea why this exists, but at least it’s inexpensive?

Sony press conference brings a humble apology, a few new games and palatable PS Vita pricing

I’ll go ahead and get this out of the way: Sony’s PlayStation Vita (formerly known as the NGP) is very attractively priced. I was thinking $399 and up for the price simply due to the specs of the little guy — OLED screen, two touch pads, etc. — and Sony’s somehow managed to make the thing start at $249 for the Wi-Fi only version, with the AT&T 3G version only bringing that up to $299. I think that’s an official “Bring it” hurled in Nintendo’s direction. We’ll see if they say anything in the morning. Right out of the gate, however, Jack Tretton addressed the elephant in the room — that month-long PSN nightmare, only recently remedied. He apologized to third-parties, since they lost money through a lack of PlayStation Store sales, he apologized to vendors (since I’ll bet that more of a few of them had to explain what

Konami nails down a ‘No More Heroes: Heroes’ Paradise’ release date

While the European version of No More Heroes: Heroes’ Paradise released in Europe yesterday, the North American version of the game has just now gotten a proper release date, thanks to Konami — August 16, 2011. The high-def version of the original Wii game for PS3 (with Move support!) is slightly different from the Japanese release of the same name — that version had no Move compatibility. Japan is getting a slightly different release, the “Red Zone Edition,” that will include Move support. Either way, it’ll be nice to see Travis make the jump to HD.

Sony unveils Move.Me project at GDC

Today at GDC, Sony unveiled Move.Me, a software application that can be used to create new types of software applications using a PlayStation Move motion controller as an input device on PCs, through the PS3. “PlayStation Move’s camera-plus-controller combination allows for the most precise and immersive gaming experiences,” said John McCutchan, senior engineer, SCEA Developer Support. “Now we’re formally taking that advanced technology, which was almost ten years in the making, and offering it to innovators outside of our traditional game development community so they can create their own applications to impact the world in exciting new ways.” The Move.Me application is compatible with Windows or Linux-based computers and other devices like tablets and smartphones, can also receive PlayStation Move’s tracking data if they can connect to a PS3 system. Though, it will not require the PS3 system SDK or a licensing agreement, which I think is interesting…coming from Sony.

    Angels at FitPerez Holiday Bash

Earlier this month, we were honored to be invited to a Hollywood bash put on by Perez Hilton and Mel B. The star studded party was to celebrate FitPerez.com and Get Fit with Mel B. Joining me at the party was Chastity, from Nfamous Gamers. We partied like rock stars with stars drinking cocktails made with TY KU. TY KU Soju allows for less calories in your mixed cocktail drinks. Mel was on the station teaching people how to use Playstation Move to get fit. People caught on very easily and we’ll be getting a copy of the game to review on GamingAngels soon! Perez Hilton was in a great mood and taking pictures with all the celebs in attendance. FitPerez.com covers fitness, health, wellness and celebs. It’s actually a more inspiring or positive approach to covering celebs.

    Games are Good for You

Video games are starting to redeem their image. At one time video gamers were stereo typed as overweight and male only. But in recent years since the Wii and now with Move and Kinect out there there is an up-off-the-couch revolution going on in living rooms. Earlier in 2010 the industry suffered from plenty of bad press as a Stanford University study of World of Warcraft and Second Life concluded that the hyper sexualized characters and the scantily clad clothing perpetuated rape consciousness. They went on to say that their findings also made the gamers tested agree that women wearing promiscuous clothing should expect to be assaulted. This week in Arlington, Va. the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) reveals that they believe fitness technologies are going to help consumers stay motivated and keep their new years resolutions. The study called Getting Fit With Consumer Electronics showed half of U.S. online consumers

Sony “moves” over four million units – to stores

It’s only been two months, but Sony reported today that their PlayStation Move motion controller has already sold over 4.1 million units in North America, Europe and Asia. However, it’s pretty easy to lie with numbers (as someone who loved stats class, I feel like this gives me at least a tiny bit of authority on that fact). And while Sony hasn’t quite lied to us here, they did leave out one little fact – the 4.1 million doesn’t represent the number of controllers in the hands of consumers, but instead the number that has gotten shipped to stores. Oh. Not really as impressive when you look at it that way. Engadget also did a little bit of digging and found that 75% of these numbers can be attributed to bundles (the Sports Champions/Eyepet bundles or the console bundles). Sony also apparently told Joystiq that they’re really only supplying the

December may just be Official Sackboy Month

When Media Molecule said they’d be doing something to make up for moving LittleBigPlanet 2‘s release date, I wasn’t sure what that meant, but this looks like the answer to that internal question. Sackboy’s Prehistoric Moves is a Move-enabled standalone LBP title where you’ll be taking down the dinosaurs over the course of ten levels. While you won’t need any sort of disc to play, you will need a friend or two – one person has to man (or woman) the Move, while the others perform their tasks using the traditional DualShock controllers. Now, for the most part, this will be available on December 14 for $5.99. Small price to pay for some early pre-holiday fun, right? But if you’re a PlayStation Plus subscriber, you can get it a week earlier on December 7 for the low, low price of FREE. Almost justifies the subscription fee. I guess. And that’s

“No More Heroes: Heroes’ Paradise” coming to PS3 with Move support

Konami announced today, via PlayStation’s blog, that No More Heroes: Heroes’ Paradise is coming to PS3 in 2011 and will be compatible with PlayStation Move. Heroes’ Paradise is a high-definition remake of the original No More Heroes game for Wii, which features Travis Touchdown fighting his way to the top of the United Assassin Association’s list of killers. Making the transition from standard to high-definition is made easier with PlayStation Move support that should mimic the Wii Remote’s role in the original game. If you don’t have a Move, however, you’ll also be able to use the DUALSHOCK 3 controller. Somehow. To be honest, I can’t imagine playing with anything other than a motion controller – it makes it feel like you’re really using a Beam Katana. This new version, in addition to looking stunning, also adds new game modes, such as “Rebout Mode,” where you can rechallenge some opponents.
