Sony announces PS4 for $399 this holiday

Sony closed out the first day of E3 with their Press conference discussing the Playstation 4. There were many great moments of the conference, but the things that seem to get the most cheers were the fact that they specifically had a slide explaining that people can play used games on the PS4 and that the PS4 will be $399. I love this video that was just released: I do love the time they spent promoting the indie game companies that will be releasing titles for the PS4. “We are proud to unveil today the most advanced gaming system ever created, PlayStation 4, which demonstrates everything PlayStation stands for — a relentless focus on the gamer, an inspired community of developers equipped with the most powerful technology, and the long-standing legacy to building worlds without boundaries through one-of-a-kind gaming experiences,” said Jack Tretton, President and CEO of SCEA. “What’s equally

    Review – Lumines: Electronic Symphony

Rating: E (Everyone) Genre: Puzzle Publisher: Ubisoft Release Date: 2-22-2012 Developer: Q Entertainment BUY The Tetris-like puzzler, Lumines, is back and this time on the PlayStation Vita. Lumines Electronic Symphony thankfully brings all the same gameplay with a few interesting twists. As a Vita title the game finds a way to implement touch controls, and luckily it isn’t some annoying gimmick. Electronic Symphony’s avatars, are the catalysts for touch controls, so they aren’t just cute little figures that dance around the corner of the screen anymore—they actually have a purpose. Tapping the rear touchpad allows players to charge their avatar. Each figure has a single player and duel mode ability. This is a simple way to add touch without killing gameplay. The duel mode ability is especially useful for sabotaging your opponent. Using the abilities can change the tide of battle with a simple touch of the screen. Chain blocks

The Vita has sold over 1.2 million systems worldwide as of Sunday. Software has sold over 2 million including both digital distribution and hard copy sales. “PS Vita was designed to deliver the ultimate portable entertainment experience, and we couldn’t be more thrilled with the reaction we’re seeing from consumers and the pace at which PS Vita is selling,” said Andrew House, President and Group CEO, Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. ‘Sorcery’ is back with a new trailer

Remember Sorcery? It was a personal highlight of Sony’s E3 2010 press conference, and my reason for buying PlayStation Move. Except for the fact that the game kind of disappeared after that event. But now, thankfully, the game is back as of a couple of months ago. In this trailer, you can get a glimpse inside what Santa Monica Studios have done with this title over the past year and a half. Still looks good to me, but what do you think? Follow

Vita’s proprietary memory card prices revealed — what does that mean to you?

Hey, if you didn’t already know, PlayStation Vita requires that you have a memory card in the system. In other words, if you want to save your game, you’ve got to have a memory card. I know, it’s pretty sad that there’s no onboard hard drive space for the handheld of awesomeness. But hey! Guess what? These things are going to be pretty expensive! How expensive? Well, according to GameStop’s nice little Vita portal they’ve got set up at the moment, the prices look a little something like… 4GB – $29.99 8GB – $44.99 16GB – $69.99 32GB – $119.99 If you want a sizable amount of memory, you’re going to have to spend almost half of the system’s cost. That’s a pretty penny to spend on storage space alone. What compounds all of this into a much bigger issue than you’d think is that the memory cards are proprietary,
