‘Rift’ achieves Guinness World Record for most in-game marriages
Love was definitely in the air in Trion Worlds’ Rift last week as the game added in-game wedding ceremonies. In fact, so many people “got married” that the game officially set a Guinness World Record for most in-game marriages in a 24-hour period. 21,879 marriages took place, if I’m reading things correctly, and the folks over at Guinness will log the marriages and the record may be included in the 2013 Gamer’s Edition of the record book. If you took part, you get the special title “The Avowed.” “Establishing this record was a monumental achievement for our development team and community of passionate players, and I couldn’t be more proud,” said Scott Hartsman, Executive Producer on Rift and Trion’s CCO. “Ascended Weddings were a great way to lift the veil on Rift’s new ‘Gatherings’ feature, social experiences that bring players together in new and interesting ways. We look forward to expanding this great new gameplay element

Origin adds downloads from publishers that…well, aren’t EA
Electronic Arts announced today that they’re adding games to their Origin platform from publishers other than themselves. That’s an important step for the service to take if they ever want people to take it seriously (or as less of an annoyance), for sure. The first game to be added is Trion Worlds’ MMO Rift. Other titles are coming from ten more publishers (Robot Entertainment, CD PROJEKT RED, Freebird Games, Recoil Games, Autumn Games, 1C Company, inXile entertainment, Paradox Interactive, Core Learning Ltd. and N3V Games) in the coming months. “Origin is focused on providing choice to consumers and the games they play,” said Craig Rechenmacher, Vice President of Business Development and Marketing for Origin at EA. “From blockbuster franchises to high-quality independent titles, we’re bringing the industry’s best content to one place. We’re excited to welcome new partners and a diverse new line-up of titles to Origin today.” If you’re

Interview: Deanna Nygren 3D artist for Certain Affinity
Crimson Alliance is an action role playing game for Xbox live arcade, set to be released September 7th. I had the amazing opportunity to talk to one of the many talents behind this game, that has also worked in the upcoming Halo anniversary edition. Deanna Nygren not only is capable of balancing her 3D artist job, but keeps up and plays video games in her spare time. GamingAngels: So what attracted you to working as a 3D artist? Deanna Nygren: It was my interest in technology, videogames, problem solving and love for fantasy/sci-fi that initially helped steer me towards a career as a 3d artist. Additionally, I was attracted to working within a collaborative team environment, having artistic freedom and the portrayed culture of game development studios. Have you always wanted to create games? I knew I always wanted to be an artist. Before my decision to get into games

State of Azeroth: Hello new content
Well things have been busy since the last State of Azeroth. We now have Patch 4.1 and the Firelands raid to look forward to along with some other changes coming our way. We’re also getting back two old dungeons which have been revamped to be Heroic 5-mans: Zul’Gurub and Zul’Aman. And yes the mounts are back. Let’s get into some more news. News The biggest news to come out has been information regarding patch 4.1 and the Firelands raid. Firelands will be coming in 4.2 and we’ve been able to get some ideas of what the new raid will be like. I’m going to start with Ragnaros himself, who’s model we’ve been able to see. Many complaints have come about due to the size of his stubby little legs. Personally I’m not a fan at all. I much prefer his original form that we’ve seen (and beaten) before. Granted things
