“Rock Band” hits the 2,000-song milestone

Thanks to the addition of Jimi Hendrix’s “Are You Experienced” next week, the Rock Band series of games will have more than 2,000 songs available for play. That…is a lot. They come from over 800 artists, too. And it couldn’t come at a better time – Rock Band 3 is out in North America on October 26. (A few stores have missed the whole “release date” memo – so it’s worth it to check your local area.)

“Rock Band 3″ shows off tickling the rock ivories

Rock Band 3 is featuring keyboards, we all knew that. But this video from the devs really shows off what those plastic keys can do, both in Pro Mode and out. Looks like if you were looking to really learn the piano, this is a good way to start, and you get to learn to play songs you love as well. There’s no faking, especially in Pro Mode – you’re playing the actual notes. You’ll play like Elton John in no time. Review: Green Day Rock Band

I was a huge fan of The Beatles Rock Band, so I was stoked when Green Day Rock Band was announced. Sadly this band specific version of Rock Band was a bit of a letdown. Rating: T for Teen Genre: Rhythm Game Number of Players: Multiplayer Publisher: MTV Games/Harmonix Release Date: June 8, 2010 RENT I’ve been a Green Day fan since the ’90s. They were a staple of what I liked to listen to back then, and even now. “Dookie” and “Nimrod” are still two of my favorite albums, so for half the game I was stoked. If you’ve played Rock Band, there isn’t much different to learn with regards to the controls and how the play style goes. The graphics are done nice, and the opening video was well done. The overall game style is on the cartoonish side and Harmonix did a great job rendering the band
