Review – Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare
Rating: M (for Mature) Genre: Action Adventure Players: Single & Multiplayer Publisher: Rockstar Games Developer: Rockstar San Diego Release Date: October 26, 2010 BUY Red Dead Redemption is one heck of a great game and was quite a hit when it came out. I’m personally still working on my run through of the game, but I had to pause from that when the Undead Nightmare DLC came out for the game. Since I first heard that Rockstar was releasing this DLC I was intersted and it was only as more and more info was released that I became really excited for it. I mean come on, who doesn’t think riding around killing zombies in the old west is awesome? The storyline itself is seperate from the campaign so you can play both of them separately (or take some time off from the main campaign like I did). The game starts

A look at the motion-capture technology of “L.A. Noire”
When you see the room for the first time, it looks like something out of Mission: Impossible or some other high-tech action flick. But this time, it’s where Rockstar is recording the facial animations for detective thriller L.A. Noire. They’re currently utilizing something called MotionScan to add a level of realism to character faces that we honestly haven’t seen before. In fact, we may be getting closer to completely negating the concept of the uncanny valley in gaming, and that should be welcomed. (This certainly explains why it’s taking so long to create this game – I have to wonder, however, if the character models that fit into the “random people walking around” category are going to suffer and ruin the overall effect – we’ll just have to see.) Watch the video below to see how the process works (men with 1940s hairstyles are involved) and get a look at

First trailer for Rockstar’s “LA Noire” reveals a Spring 2011 release
Rockstar’s finally revealed more of LA Noire, and this trailer (featuring only in-game footage!) gives us a release date that we hope they can stick to. What are your first impressions about the trailer? I’m wondering what kind of motion-capture they’re using to get such realistic mouth movements, myself! I also can’t wait to play this – it seems so much more grown-up than a Grand Theft Auto (in my opinion, anyway).

Undead Nightmare Just Got Biblical
When I was at NYCC and got to check out Undead Nightmare I was told that we would be able to ride undead horses, but sadly those were not available in what I got to play. But now we know that these are not just any undead horses, these are the Four Horses of the Apocalypse. Pestilence, Famine, Death, and War will be in the game and ride-able, if you can tame them that is. Each horse also has it’s own special ability that will correspond with it’s name. Death causes zombies to explode, Famine has everlasting stamina, Pestilence has a high pain threshold, and War lights things on fire. To me the news about this DLC just keeps getting better and better. Hopefully it will be available for us to snatch up soon! In the meantime check out the screen caps of each horse below. “Red Dead Redemption” adds outfits for free and an Undead Nightmare update
Hunting and Trading outfits for Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption were released for free today on Xbox LIVE and PlayStation Network. The DLC adds two new outfits – the Expert Hunter (Seen right – you gotta love that hat) and Savvy Merchant – as well as the challenges required to don them. The game also adds one new animal, the Jackalope. The download also includes a compatibility update that allows those without the “Liars and Cheats” and “Legends and Killers” DLC packs to see fellow players in multiplayer who are using characters from Red Dead Revolver and Red Dead Redemption single-player. Just more (for free) from a game that keeps on giving. Soon, we’ll also know what date we’ll be meeting the undead, with an official “Undead Nightmare” trailer coming tomorrow. This time, 13 is a lucky day, I guess.

Rockstar’s “L.A. Noire” is a little behind schedule
Originally set to come out sometime before Halloween, Rockstar’s “L.A. Noire” has taken a tumble into next year for reasons unknown. A press release concerning Take Two’s earnings this quarter stated that the game is now set for the first half of 2011. This isn’t the title’s first delay. It was originally announced for fiscal year 2008, before being pushed back to 2009, 2010 and now 2011. Hopefully the extra work pays off in the final product. Whenever we get it, anyway.

Rockstar fires a warning shot for “Red Dead Redemption” cheaters
All you varmints and cowboys with less-than-optimal Honor levels when it comes to playing Red Dead Redemption had better listen up. Rockstar knows what you’re doing, see, and if you’ve been using hacked game saves to make your single- or multiplayer experiences more awesome, you’ve got less than a week to straighten up and fly right, or else you’re out of the game for good. But you’ve got one chance for redemption before the official banhammer is swung. Delete your hacked game saves (in both online and offline modes) to show that you’re truly a reformed player, and you can save yourself from a life without online RDR. After deleting, you’ll have to go online to prove that you’re clean by finishing a gang hideout in your new multiplayer save, or play until you gain access to the MacFarlane’s Ranch safehouse in single-player. Until you do that, there’s an execution

Bring the undead to “Red Dead Redemption” for $10 later this year
Rockstar revealed their plans for Red Dead Dedemption DLC today. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like there’s going to be a lot of new content for the single-player mode – this time, it’s all about the multiplayer, with the exception of the “undead nightmare” pack, which, of course, is the last addition (can we hope for a Halloween release?). But more multiplayer content is an awesome thing, since RDR’s multiplayer is incredibly fun. Add that to the fact that you get some new weapons for use in both modes, some multiplayer poker and that one update will include some mysterious “anti-griefing measures,” and these look like a win all around. (But in the interest of full disclosure, I’m such a fan of this game, so of course I think it’s all awesome.) There’s no release date for any of these except the first, and that’s just a vague “beginning of August

Is Rockstar’s latest wallpaper in response to Rockstar Wives?
Yesterday Rockstar posted a new wallpaper that may be responding to the recent accusations made public by the Rockstar Wives. The image above is a wallpaper that is titled, “The Eye is watching”. The image is from a comment that a former Rockstar Employee made to MTV Multiplayer blog who compared the company management’s to that of the vengeful “Eye of Sauron”. This image might be the first public response to the claims. But is it a tactful one? It seems to be poking fun at all the claims instead of taking any of them seriously. While it’s common that the game industry for workers to work long hours, the complaints should at least be looked at. The IGDA even made a public response about the Rockstar Wives’ claims: “In any studio, the IGDA finds the practice of undisclosed and constant overtime to be deceptive, exploitative, and ultimately harmful not
