Missoni for Target launches and crashes

Fashionistas everywhere woke up early to hit the Target website today. The Missoni collection officially went on sale today and promptly crashed the site. Unfortunately those going to brick and mortar stores may not fair any better. There are reports of people online since 2am and just filling their cart with as much merchandise as they can. Probably not in the manner of keeping, but for re-selling at a marked up price on Ebay. The collection that includes everything from signature zig-zag print sweaters for $44.99 and silk scarves for $19.99 to iPad covers and furniture. This photo makes me sad. As someone that wanted to purchase a pair of shoes and a dress, this is just disgusting to witness: Target Missoni picture. Target’s press release stated that the sale will go through October. But will that mean they will refill what’s been sold? Will we get another chance to

3DS sales up over 260 percent following price cut

Nintendo’s price cuts are definitely working in North America — the company sold over 235,000 3DS systems in the United States in August, according to NPD, which tracks game sales in the U.S. 185,000 of those were sold after a price cut that took effect on August 12. Compared to that part of July, sales are up over 260 percent. To put that in slightly different numbers, Nintendo was selling an average of 4,500 3DS units in August pre-price cut, and over 10,000 a day afterward. That’s a definite improvement during the month, at least. “Consumers are responding very positively to the new suggested retail price of $169.99 for the Nintendo 3DS,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. Now, we just need more good, non-first-party titles!

‘Star Wars: The Old Republic’ supply to be limited by EA

For a change, if you’re not on the bandwagon for an MMO early on, you might have to wait to play. EA announced at a Gamescom press conference yesterday that they’ll be limiting the number of copies of Star Wars: The Old Republic available at launch. Why do this? Well, at launch, many MMOs experience server crashes and really long queues to even enter the game you’re paying for monthly. EA is trying to avoid this — to give a great experience to a lot of people instead of selling copies so quickly that everything’s overloaded on Day One. As of now, EA hasn’t said exactly which number they’re hitting before shutting off the sales, but they know what it is and it applies to both retail and digital copies. (Via Game Informer, since it’s not like we’re in Germany or anything.)

‘FortressCraft’ hits $1 million in sales

Xbox LIVE Indie Game FortressCraft has hit an incredible milestone not too long after its April 8, 2011 launch. As of now, it’s the highest-grossing Xbox LIVE Indie Game yet. The game, which sounds a lot like indie darling Minecraft in both name and gameplay senses, has officially hit $1 million in sales after selling 350,000 copies. The developers, ProjectorGames, report that a giant update is on the way that will add customizable blocks and server rankings (and more).

If you have access to a Wal-Mart in the South, you can get up to $200 off a 3DS

For a change, it’s great to be a gamer in the southern U.S. — Wal-Mart stores in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Missouri, Mississippi, Oklahoma, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas are offering a pretty nice deal for those who want to be 3DS owners. Wal-Mart is offering $100 for an old DS trade-in in an event they’re calling “Trade-Back and Trade-Up,” and they’re going to let you do it twice if you have multiple systems.
