    VIZMedia welcomes Stan Lee at Comic-Con 2010

    Stan Lee, the legendary comic book creator will be joining VIZ at their Shonen Jump panel, along with a special in-booth autograph signing at San Diego Comic Con this year. Fans can partake in this special signing on July 24th, at Booth #2813, the VIZ Media booth. Stan will be making his appearance to help celebrate the release of ULTIMO Volume 2. Ultimo is the historic collaboration between Stan Lee and famed Japanese manga creator Hiroyuki Takei, and has been serialized in Shonen Jump Magazine since its debut in 2009. Volume 2 is available in stores now. Starting at 4PM on Thursday, July 22nd, and Friday, July 23rd, the first 60 fans to purchase ULTIMO Volume 2 at the VIZ Media booth will receive a ticket to have their copy personally autographed by Mr. Lee on Saturday, July 24th, at 1:15PM.     Katee Sackhoff working on a Comic Book series

    Katee Sackhoff has already won over the hearts of geeks by being a part of Battlestar Galactica and voicing characters in various video games. Now she’s gearing up to join the cast of 24 but don’t worry geeks, she’s not forgetting about you. Katee has announced on TVGuide Magazine that she is launching a brand new Comic Book series. Katee knows her market and is launching the comic at San Diego Comic Con. “I’m launching my own comic book that we’re getting ready to launch at Comic-Con next year. It’s called Versus. I wrote it with my friend Sxv’Leithan Essex. We’re very excited and as soon as I have anything I’ll give you a scoop!” We look forward to hearing more about Versus and which publisher will be producing it.

    Zachary Quinto teams up with Archaia

    Zachery Quinto is no stranger to San Diego Comic Con. He’s a regular on Heroes panels, and then the craziness of Star Trek. Now he comes back with Before the Door Pictures announcing a partnership with Archaia. “As a company passionate about telling unique stories, we’re thrilled to be doing that on our projects with Archaia,” said Quinto. “I’ve been immersed in the comic book world through my work as an actor, and it feels fitting that Corey, Neal and I are diving even further into it as producers.     Things to see at San Diego Comic Con

    It must be getting close to San Diego Comic Con because my email box is filling with every company announcing what they will be doing at SDCC. Instead of filling GA with 10,000 posts, I’ll be accumulating the information and placing it in one post each day. Here are today’s announcements: Mimoco will be showcasing their new Do-It-Yourself Vimobot vinyl toy customized by many top artists in the urban vinyl scene. The custom show can be seen at Mimoco’s booth at #4938. Marvel has partnered with Japanese animation studio, Madhouse to create four new animation versions of classic Marvel Super Heroes. During the Marvel Animation Panel on Friday, July 24 attendees will get a sneak preview at two of those. The anime series will appear on Animax channel in Japan in spring of 2010.     SEGA brings Bayonetta to Comic-Con

    SEGA has announced their San Diego Comic-Con schedule which includes a ton of Bayonetta coverage. Every day on the floor at the SEGA booth (#5229) , visitors will be able to get a hand’s-on with Bayonetta demo. Other titles at the booth are Iron Man II, Planet 51 and SEGA All-Stars Racing. On Friday, July 24 from 6:30-7:30pm in Room 10, Producer Yusuke Hashimoto will be discussing a behind the scenes look at the making of Bayonetta. Also on the panel is Lead Character Designer, Mari Shimazaki. On Thursday, if cosplayers dressed as Bayonetta can win entry into an exclusive Bayonetta event that evening. The real live action model will be at the booth, Thursday and Friday at various times.

    Disney and A&E Comic Con announcements

    Disney Studios Motion Pictures to have amazing panels at San Diego Comic Con. Tim Burton and Robert Zemeckis will join the TRON producers on Thursday, July 23 at 11am to talk about 3D adventures in Disney’s A Christmas Carol, Alice in Wonderland and TRON. There will be Q&A as well as actual 3D footage and never seen before art. This is the first time 3D footage will be shown at Comic Con. In another amazing panel, Disney teams up Hayao Miyazaki with John Lasseter with other animation directors on Friday, July 24 at 12:45pm. The panel will be talking about Toy Story 3, The Princess and the Frog and Miyazaki’s Ponyo. A&E will be revealing details about the complete series megaset for Farscape in their Farscape panel on Friday, July 24 at 10am in room 6BCF. The show ran from 1999-2003 on Sci Fi.     Terry Moore Strangers In Paradise Omnibus

    Terry Moore’s Strangers In Paradise is one of the best comic series I have ever read. I’m always hesitant when a male is writing female characters. But Terry Moore writes from a place as if Katchoo and Francine were alive and telling him their story. Strangers in Paradise ended a while back but Terry Moore has created the Strangers in Paradise Omnibus for sale at San Diego Comic Con. The Omnibus is the complete SIP story in two 1100 page hardcovers with dust jackets. Terry Moore also says in an interview with CBR that SDCC buyers will get a special tote bag for carrying. “We’re making special tote bags out of canvas, with the cover image on the bags,” he told CBR. “All the books that are sold at San Diego will be handed over in those bags.
