Behind the scenes with the newest characters in ‘X-Men Destiny’
Milo Ventimiglia, Scott Porter and Jamie Chung were announced as voice actors in Activision’s X-Men Destiny this week, but what do we really know about their mutant characters? Truth be told, not a lot. These videos fix that. Check out these behind-the-scenes looks at Destiny‘s newest faces. Special Edition Star Wars Xbox announced at SDCC
Announced at SDCC, Microsoft is going to sell a special edition Xbox with Kinect bundle that features Kinect Star Wars and an R2D2 Xbox 360 complete with C3PO controllers. The bundle will be available later this year. But don’t expect it to sell for cheap. Microsoft knows that Star Wars fans seem to like to spend money. It will be $449.99. I believe it’s available for pre-orders now, but I think I’ll just look lovingly at the pics. The price is a bit steep for me. What about you angels?

SDCC – A look at the Twilight line
San Diego Comic Con has officially started with the launch of Preview Night. Today, I got my badge as well as the Mighty Muggs Avengers set. The one exclusive I wanted, so things are off to a great start. One of the maybe not so surprising things is that the line for the Twilight had already started. Actually, the line officially started on Sunday afternoon. That’s right angels. People started lining up Sunday to see a panel on Thursday at 11:15am. Interesting thing, first two people in line were dudes. Here’s a look at Twilight fans. What are your thoughts? Would you wait out for three days for anything?

Guide to SDCC Exclusives
People go to San Diego Comic Con for many reasons. Hopefully most go at least for comics and then there is a bonus of learning about upcoming movies, your favorite tv shows and maybe meeting a star or two. Then there’s the parties. But everyone’s inner collector comes out at SDCC. Since I’ve been attending SDCC for 13 years now, I thought I would list some of my tips for getting the exclusives that you want. Trust me, they are based on experience. 1. Do your research The list of exclusives is actually up on the SDCC site here. They are listed in alphabetical order by studio and I suggest you browse each one to see what they are offering. The post will show an image of the item (for most), the quantity that will be available at SDCC (very important to know!), and the cost. For example: I want

Nintendo’s bringing an avalanche of games to Comic-Con
Nintendo’s coming to San Diego for Comic-Con this year, and they’re bringing what looks like the whole family. Not only are they trotting out the 3DS holiday releases (Super Mario, Mario Kart, and Kid Icarus: Uprising), but this is the spot they’ve chosen to give The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword its first North American public playable demo. Very nice (if you’re there). Nintendo’s booth (#5135) isn’t the only place to go for gaming fun, either. A special “Gaming Lounge” is being set up in the San Diego Ballroom at the Marriott Marquis & Marina, which is apparently right next to the convention center. A special Legend of Zelda art piece will be created there over the course of the convention, special Pokémon meetings will take place (and hey, you can grab a few special AR cards, too) and there will be giant AR cards on hand for fun photo

A look at the Full SDCC schedule
The entire schedule for SDCC was released over the weekend. Being sick, I totally missed it, but now I’m ready to chime in with what I’m excited for! If this is your first trip to San Diego Comic Con, look for our upcoming guide to handling SDCC. If you have any questions, please send them to me! I will include them in my article. I have 13 years experience at SDCC and know pretty much all the ins and outs. This will be a high-level look at what I think is exciting on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Sunday is always iffy because you should reserve time to buy buy buy. Sunday is sale day at SDCC because the vendors don’t really want to take all their ish back home. Friday starts with Torchwood panel to talk about Miracle Day. The cast members will be there and it should be a

Wednesday & Thursday SDCC schedule is up!
It’s the most wonderful time..of the year. That’s what I sing every year (for the past 13 years!) when San Diego Comic Con comes around. It’s not only my favorite convention, but the city is amazing too. I have been complaining on Twitter that the schedule has not come out yet. Well the SDCC gods must have heard me because the schedule for Preview Night and Thursday is now out. It has many surprises already and I’m so pumped I can hardly sit still through work. Leading up to SDCC, I will be writing preview articles as well as what tips I’ve learned after 13 years at SDCC. Yes, this will be my 14th year. I used to go as a regular attendee before GamingAngels existed. It was such a different convention back then and I look forward to seeing how SDCC changes as some studios start pulling out of

Disney, Marvel and Warner Bros pulling out of SDCC?
As someone who has attended San Diego Comic Con for 13 years, this both boggles my mind and makes sense. The NY Times had an article up earlier this week that Warner Brothers, Walt Disney Studios, Dreamworks Animation and Marvel Entertainment are on the fence about coming to Comic Con 2011. Over the past five years, SDCC has become known for it’s coverage of pop culture more than a celebration of comics. Studios ran to SDCC to create buzz for their film from the geeks attending. Only this past year, the buzz wasn’t enough to cover for horrible movies. Movies like Sucker Punch, Megamind, Scott Pilgrim and even Tron had much hype at SDCC, but when the films came out, they bombed. Warner, Disney and Dreamworks are definitely not coming to SDCC. Marvel Entertainment is on the fence and hopefully that just means their movies because it would be ridiculous

San Diego Comic Con is staying put
It was announced today that Comic Con will be staying in San Diego. At least for a few more years. The new contract keep the convention in San Diego until 2015. Both Los Angeles and Anaheim aggressively bid on the largest pop culture convention. Comic-Con Director of Marketing and Public Relations David Glanzer said after the announcement, “We are grateful for the tireless efforts all three cities put into their proposals. In the end, we feel this decision is the best for all those who attend Comic-Con and for the organization itself. WE are happy that the community has worked with us to ensure that we remain here.” The city of San Diego has a love hate relationship with the conference. The city probably hates the intrusion but loves the money. San Diego was talking about expanding the Convention center which hopefully they will do since they have outgrown the

Review: Scott Pilgrim’s Finest Hour vol 6
I am going to try to keep the number of spoilers down. But in the end, just buy the whole series! You won’t be disappointed! BUY Bryan Lee O’Malley’s Scott Pilgrim was HUGE at San Diego Comic Con this year. All the buzz was about the upcoming movie. Many fans were picking up book 1 at SDCC, which is encouraging, but really they should have picked up all 6. There are six volumes of Scott Pilgrim and those six took a little over six years to come out. Volume six ends the series, but there are many of you that haven’t picked up the graphic novel yet and you should. The Scott Pilgrim series is amazing for it’s ability to fit in charming wit with video game humor. It really is a book that is almost an ode to our generation and what we love in video games and music.
