GameStop and Payless shoes team up in promotional offer
While I applaud GameStop for thinking outside of the box, this may be the most random pairing for a cross promotional offer that I have ever heard of. GameStop is teaming up with Payless ShoeSource where customers will get coupons at checkout for the other store. The promotion starts today. GameStop receipts generate a $5 off a purchase $25 or more coupon that is redeemable December 2 through January 8, 2010. Two GameStop offers will be generated on Payless receipts. One is “get the hottest new games for $19.99 when you trade-in two select games,” through Dec. 6, as well as “2,500 game gifts for under $20″ offered Dec. 7-28. Not sure how many Payless customers are used to trading in games. “This holiday season our aim is to bring holiday joy to shoppers by allowing them to save now, feel good and Payless, and our cross-promotional offers with GameStop

Celebrate Halloween – Japanese Style!
People of San Francisco – wanna get into the Halloween spirit by using a hint of Japanese film and culture? Then you better get yourself down to VIZ Cinema! A special exhibit is being held at VIZ Cinema (or could quite possibly be under the branding of NEW PEOPLE) entitled “Yokai University: San Francisco Campus“. Yokai is a name for supernatural or ghostly creatures in Japanese folklore which range from evil Oni (ogre) to the mischievous Kitsune (fox) or Yuki-onna (snow woman). The free admission exhibit displays plenty of books, art and more in the lobby. There is also Japanese Ukiyo-e woodblock prints by master artist Hokusai Katsushika (creator of the work Fifty-Three Stations of the Tokaido Road), and artwork by yokai manga pioneer Shigeru Mizuki (creator of GeGeGe No Kitaro). The celebrations will be in place for 2 weeks (beginning October 23rd and ending November 6th), and will feature

New “What A Wonderful World!” manga – thanks to VIZ!
Now before you start crooning Louis Armstrong’s “What A Wonderful World” (as I am doing), let me assure you it is not about trees of green or red roses… OK, it may have roses and trees in it but that’s not the point. VIZ Media have let us know that there is a new manga coming out on their VIZ Signature manga imprint named “What A Wonderful World!” by Inio Asano. The manga depicts the various ways in which 20-somethings lives twist and turn, either for good or for bad. Volume one witnesses the transformation of a college dropout who is bored of her everyday routine. Volume 2 is similar in theme but includes (to quote) “cruelty of childhood, the delusion of adulthood, the permanence of death, and how people find a way to remain resolute and laugh in the face of reality”. The premise of the stories appears to

Southpeak uses DSi feature in Sushi Go Round
SoutPeak Games has added an interesting twist to Miniclip Sushi Go Round. They’ve decided to allow DSi users to let players use the camera and turn their pictures into customers that will appear in the restaurant. All you have to do is take a picture and then trace around the face/object and delete all the unnecessary areas of the photo and save it. Then the new customers will pop in for sushi as you are playing. That’s right, your dog could show up for sushi. Miniclip Sushi Go Round will be available for the DS this November.
