EA and Dr. Pepper Partner for Exclusive Game Content
More new from EA today as they’ve announced a new marketing program to deliver custom built items to Dr Pepper fans. I myself am a huge fan of Dr. Pepper (especially the Cherry Vanilla kind, which isn’t being carried anymore), so this sounds pretty cool. Starting this week, people who buy 20-ounce bottles of Dr Pepper will be able to download new, exclusive content in EA games like virtual clothes for their Sims or body parts for their Spore creatures. Gaming fans will receive access to these exclusive add-ons for select EA titles throughout 2010 with codes* found on more than 500 million Dr Pepper bottles and fountain cups. “Dr. Pepper’s decision to partner with EA is an investment that will bring a lot of value to their brand and to their consumers,” said Elizabeth Harz, Senior Vice President of Global Media Sales for EA. “Consumers get free game content

PETA Names Sims 3 Most Animal Friendly Game of 09
It’s New Years Eve and today PETA announced that they are recognizing Sims 3 as 2009′s Most Animal Friendly Game. In the latest version of the biggest-selling gaming franchise ever, Electronic Arts allows players to choose a vegetarian lifestyle. According to game testers, vegetarian Sims, like their real-life counterparts, live longer, age more slowly, and feast on cruelty-free delights—from tofu dogs to ratatouille. And, like all great art, The Sims 3 imitates life—if your Sim eats meat, it will get sick. Last year’s winner was Fable 2, which won based on the game’s use of vegetables and tofu as purity items with meat foods corrupting your character. You can read more about their choice by visiting PETA’s official blog.

EA releases Sims 3 tool to let players create worlds
EA is letting Sims 3 players get even more creative. Now they can download the beta of the Sims 3 Create a World Tool which allows players to create and share new worlds they design. Players will have to be registered to download the tools. The tools are the same tools that the Sims 3 developers use to create worlds and towns for the Sims 3. Now you get to do all the work. My guess is that Forks will be built rather quickly. Download the tool here. Some improvements to Sims 3 let’s players go in the Sims 3 Store without leaving the game in Shop Mode. Players can also browse the full Sims 3 Store catalog without leaving the game.

The Sims 3: A Review
Genre: Simulation Rating: T (for Teen) Publisher: Electronic Arts System: PC / Mac Release Date: June 2, 2009 BUY It’s no secret amongst regular GA’ers, that I am a huge fan of The Sims franchise, and that I was beside myself with anticipation for The Sims 3 release. I’ve been playing pretty steadily since I came home from E3, and trying to think of all the ways I could do a review of the game, and do it justice. I mean, you can read any old review about the game anywhere, and to be honest, most of the big stuff you’d want to know about the game was on websites everywhere before it even came out. However, let me say what I said elsewhere at a Sims forum I’m a member of (yes, I really do like The Sims that much): “After playing The Sims 3 steadily for about a

Sims 3 has lost $9m to piracy
Sims 3 is set to be released next week but the news lately has been that the game is being pirated at a faster rate than Spore. Bloomberg reports that an illegal version of the game hit earlier this month and has been downloaded 180,000. If that is true, that represents about $9 million lost in sales, if you think each person that downloaded it would have bought the retail version. “PC games are available before they are released,” Pacific Crest Securities analyst Evan Wilson stated. “That’s the nature of the business these days. That’s an issue they have been dealing with for some time.” EA has claimed that the leaked version of Sims 3 does not represent final code and has bugs.
