Sony announces PS4 for $399 this holiday

Sony closed out the first day of E3 with their Press conference discussing the Playstation 4. There were many great moments of the conference, but the things that seem to get the most cheers were the fact that they specifically had a slide explaining that people can play used games on the PS4 and that the PS4 will be $399. I love this video that was just released: I do love the time they spent promoting the indie game companies that will be releasing titles for the PS4. “We are proud to unveil today the most advanced gaming system ever created, PlayStation 4, which demonstrates everything PlayStation stands for — a relentless focus on the gamer, an inspired community of developers equipped with the most powerful technology, and the long-standing legacy to building worlds without boundaries through one-of-a-kind gaming experiences,” said Jack Tretton, President and CEO of SCEA. “What’s equally

Tales of Symphonia Chronicles coming to PS3

My husband and I played the heck out of Tales of Symphonia for the Gamecube. Today in Japan, series producer Hideo Baba announced that both Tales of Symphonia and its sequel Dawn of the New World are coming to the PS3 as a single HD release. Yay! Even better, Baba wants to make sure the release comes to the US and Euro in early 2014. Even better the new version will contain content changes from the PS2 version that never made it to the US. I am very excited about this and the opportunity to play through the game again with my husband. [source: Japanator]

The beta will allow gamers to get their hands on the multiplayer component that Sony has been pushing hard since it was first revealed earlier this year. Two teams of four players will battle to earn favor from the gods, Zeus, Hades, Ares and Poseidon. To go with this announcement, Sony released a new trailer featuring Zeus: We got our hands on God of War: Ascension’s multiplayer at E3, and can confirm it is “very God of War.” This beta is in addition to the E3 demo which will be available for those who purchase the Blu-Ray of Total Recall. Sony sues Bridgestone and actor who portrayed Kevin Butler

In one of the most bizarre headlines over the weekend, Sony is suing Jerry Lambert, who is better known as Kevin Butler, the VP of Everything. Well, that’s not entirely accurate. Sony is suing Bridgestone and Wildcat Creek Inc., an advertising agency of which Jerry Lambert is the real-life president. You may recall recently seeing a commercial for Bridgestone in which a man and woman were a little too ecstatic about playing Mario Kart on a Wii. It was part of Bridgestone’s recent ad campaign called “Game On,” in which you could win a Wii after buying a set of tires. Yeah, we were a little confused on it, too, but keen eyes may have recognized Lambert playing a Butler-esque character. Which is exactly why Sony is now suing both parties, claiming they tried to capitalize on the Kevin Butler. Speaking to VentureBeat, SCEA senior director of corporate communications, Dan Race,

E3 Press Conferences in Images Day 1

Yesterday we got out the information but it lacked pictures. That’s because while I was typing, Keri was taking awesome pictures with my Cannon 5D Mark II. We decided to post all the pictures from Day 1 together for your enjoyment. That means pictures from Microsoft, EA, Ubisoft, and Sony press conferences. What did you think of the conferences? Any clear winner? At Microsoft, visually we enjoyed their stage. In the pictures take a look at the side panels, which really integrated well with the content. At EA, we were pretty high up and there may even be a camera in some of the shots. Their live stream had a video camera moving constantly in our view. At Sony we had decent seats and they also had great presentation with their games. I believe there is a God of War Ascension shot that is awesome. Hope you enjoy these pictures. We’ll

    Sony E3 2012 Press Conference

We are sitting in a very hot stadium waiting for the Sony E3 conference to start. There are about six Playstation employees playing games on the large screen. One is playing something with Playstation Move. You can really see that pink ball glow even from the cheap seats. They may be playing games that are currently out. We are getting started. The various screens are showing images of games and people playing them. You’ll see images of the stage later, but it’s quite pretty visually. Jack is doing the intro. Begin by paying tribute to the gamers, “Never Stop Playing”. He introduces Kaz Hirai to the crowd. First title is a brand new IP by the company that did Heavy Rain, Quantic Dream. David Cage comes to the stage to talk about Beyond Two Souls for the Playstation 3. Jodie Holmes is a character in the game that has a
