‘Deus Ex: Human Revolution’ will augment your Mac this winter
Feral Interactive announced today that they’re in charge of the Mac release of Deus Ex: Human Revolution. This release will be out “this winter,” so either late this year, or early next. “We are delighted to partner with Feral, a leading expert in development for the Mac platform, to bring the acclaimed Deus Ex: Human Revolution to Mac players, ” said Stephane D’Astous, general manager of Eidos-Montreal. “The game presents a powerful vision of a dystopian future, and we’re excited that gamers will now be able to experience it on the Mac.” We’ll know a more concrete release date in the future.

Square Enix announces first DLC for ‘Deus Ex: Human Revolution’
This October, you’ll be exploring another conspiracy in Deus Ex: Human Revolution in the recently-announced DLC called “The Missing Link.” It’s coming to every platform the game is on — including OnLive. (Spoiler alert!) While Adam was investigating during the course of the game, he disappears for three days. (Aaaaand end spoilers.) Where did he go, and what did he discover? That’s The Missing Link. You’ll be fighting back against the group of Belltower agents that disabled Adam’s augmentations while also escaping from a freighter that’s going…well, somewhere. And you have no idea where. One of the best parts of this DLC is that you’ll be able to reassign Adam’s augmentations — good news for anyone who ever felt like they were “doing it wrong.” “We are very excited for Deus Ex: Human Revolution fans to be able to further develop Adam’s journey in the game with The Missing Link

‘Dragon Quest X’ is more similar to an MMO than you’d think
Square Enix recently revealed additional information about the next installment in the RPG series Dragon Quest. The next game, appropriately titled Dragon Quest X, appears to have quite a few things in common with an MMO — except for the fact that it will be on the Wii (and Wii U). First off, you’ll have to be online to play everything after the first few hours. You don’t have to play with others, but you can’t do it all in an isolated fashion. And here’s the bigger thing — there will be additional charges for that online play. In the latest FAQ post over at Square Enix (translated by Andriasang), the company confirmed their intent to charge fees for online content. We’ll just hope that if this is an MMO, Square Enix has learned a lot since the release of Final Fantasy XIV, a game which still hasn’t actually been

Square Enix reveals first ‘Dungeon Siege III’ DLC
Square Enix has announced the first downloadable content pack for Dungeon Siege III, titled “Treasures of the Sun.” It offers a new plot arc with more quests, enemies and loot. You probably wouldn’t want it any other way. In Treasures of the Sun, you’re searching the Aranoi Desert for a lost member of the Legion, but you stumble upon an abbey hiding the greatest treasure the Azunite faith has to offer. This new content also allows you to reach level 35, use new attack, defense and healing abilities, reallocate talent and proficiency points, and enchant weapons and armor. The DLC should be available this October for $9.99 on Steam, Xbox LIVE, and the PlayStation Network.

Here’s what you’ll see of ‘Final Fantasy XIII-2′ at PAX Prime
Final Fantasy XIII-2‘s getting trotted around quite a bit lately, but most of that is because of the number of conventions happening lately. Now Square Enix is at PAX, and they’ve brought a brand-new Final Fantasy XIII-2 trailer with them. Take a look below. Oh, and remember, as Noel says here, “Humans aren’t strong. They die easy.” Well, yeah, maybe in the face of giant hands made of water, kid.

GameStop is removing OnLive vouchers from PC copies of ‘Deus Ex: Human Revolution’
Stop! If you’re planning to buy Deus Ex: Human Revolution for PC, you might want to avoid GameStop for retail copies. Based on an email sent from Field Manager Josh Ivanoff (you can see an edited version of it above), some stores have been ordered to remove vouchers for a free OnLive copy of the game. At the moment, Ivanoff hasn’t responded to calls from multiple outlets, but GameStop representative Beth Sharum has confirmed the practice, telling OnLive Spot that “Square Enix packed the competitor’s coupon with our Deus Ex: Human Revolution product without our prior knowledge and we did pull and discard these coupons.” Note that this isn’t a chain-wide practice, but such a policy even being enforced is really shady. GameStop does have their reasoning, though — as reported in March, GameStop has purchased both digital download service Impulse as well as Spawn Labs’ streaming technology. You know

Learn more about ‘Final Fantasy XIII-2′ straight from the makers in this trailer
Afraid that you weren’t going to get your Final Fantasy XIII-2 fix? Okay, I don’t think anyone’s actually afraid of that. In any case, here’s a trailer for the game (which includes actual gameplay) featuring commentary from XIII-2 producer Kitase Yoshinori. This does spoil the end of the first game (as trailers for sequels tend to do), so watch with care:

Square Enix and Airtight Games debuting new, ‘quirky’ title at PAX Prime
At PAX Prime, which is…this week (where has the time gone?), Square Enix and Airtight Games are revealing a brand-new project. This unveiling is actually part of a panel featuring the development team, which includes Kim Swift. (Who was in integral part of the development of Portal and the two Left 4 Dead titles, by the way.) They will apparently be discussing the process of “bringing an incredibly fascinating and quirky game to life.” I’m okay with that. The panel takes place on Saturday at 7 p.m. in the Pegasus Room. Square Enix is also bringing Dead Island, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Final Fantasy XIII-2, Heroes of Ruin and Wakfu to the convention.

Square Enix grabs ‘True Crime: Hong Kong’
Well, someone’s impressed with True Crime: Hong Kong, despite Activision cancelling it earlier this year. Who? Square Enix. In fact, they’re so impressed that they’ve picked up the rights to the title, still under development at United Front Games. Square Enix London will manage the project. As of now, they’re not currently sure of a release date or platform availability, but they do know they can’t call the game True Crime — they didn’t buy the rights to the entire IP. “It’s too early to say what the name will be,” said Lee Singleton, general manager of Square Enix London Studios. “I can honestly say I think this is going to be pretty straightforward,” he told Gamasutra about the renaming process. The Square Enix branding team is already working on concepts. United Front is already recruiting more staff in order to complete the game. The title was officially cancelled during

‘Final Fantasy XIII-2′ lands in the U.S. January 2012
Thanks to Twitter (and a tweet from @SquareEnixEmily), we now know that Square Enix is bringing their next Final Fantasy title, Final Fantasy XIII-2, to North America next January, only one month after its Japanese release. Hopefully fans are much more receptive to this title, which promises to bring back a more open world as opposed to the incredibly linear storyline of its predecessor. Are you willing to return to the series, if you weren’t such a fan of the last title?
