Review: Cursed Mountain by Vespaa & Naomi
Editor’s Note: Both Vespaa and Naomi had the chance to review Cursed Mountain by Deep Silver. Since they’re different kinds of gamers, we wanted to give you the opinion from both of them. Below, you’ll see comments on the game from Vespaa (in black) and Naomi (in blue). Enjoy! Rating: M (PEGI: 16) Publisher: Deep Silver Genre: Survival Horror Players: 1 Release Date: August 25th , 2009 RENT Deep Silver brings back a genre of gaming seldom seen on the Wii (as well as being exclusive) with their survival horror title, Cursed Mountain. While the game reminded me a great deal of the Silent Hill series, I felt it fell short in capturing the terrifying atmosphere said games immerse the player in. That being said, Cursed Mountain provides players with it’s own unique brand of horror, built around a storyline involving ghosts in presented in a manner few games have

First Look – Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles
There are a few zombie rail shooters for the Wii, and Capcom is adding one more to the list with Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles, set for a Wii release on November 17. The Darkside Chronicles is definitely a new experience in the Resident Evil series. The demo I played was the new South American level first revealed at Tokyo Game Show. The demo united Leon Kennedy and Jack Krauser as partners. The game itself is the sequel to Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles and does include favorite Resident Evil characters, Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield. The on-rail, arcade shooter has a controlled camera system that takes the player through the story. The background contains items that are destructible and can get you unique items. Players can interact with backgrounds and will have plenty of undead to kill. There is an extensive weapons system with heavier weapons needed for later

Guest Article: Deep Silver games for 2009 in NYC
Deep Silver brought their impressive 2009 line up of games to New York City on August 5th, and I was lucky enough to be in attendance. The titles included were; Cursed Mountain for the Wii, Risen for the PC/360, Fritz Chess for the DS/PS3/Wii, and Mytran Wars for the PSP. The event was reasonably crowded, with Cursed Mountain and Risen drawing the most attention, and with very good reason. After muscling my way through the crowd of people in awe of Cursed Mountain’s creepy, yet remarkably engrossing environments I was able to get a first hand look at the game, and found myself thoroughly impressed by it. Cursed Mountain follows the story of Eric Simmons, our protagonist and top tier mountain climber, on his quest to find his brother, Frank. Eric’s journey takes him to Mount Chomolonzo in the Himalayas, where he encounters various ghosts and spirits inhabiting the mountain.
