PopCap Games wishes everyone a happy Thanksgiving with the card above. But I have to wonder…is that an Angry Bird they are eating?

We’re only a few days before Thanksgiving which means it’s time to get ready for tons of great food and fun with family and friends. I hate cooking. Spending a full day inside cooking while others are having fun is not my idea of enjoying a holiday. But I’m willing to take on parts of the cooking detail if I get to play with some cool gadgets. The following are top five gadgets and applications that I think are pretty cool. Comment below with what you are going to use this turkey day.

1. Emerson Wine Bottle Opener: I received this as a wedding gift from my friend Robin and it’s changed my world. As someone with joint issues, this takes all the pain out of opening a wine bottle. You just peel the foil, place it over the top of the bottle push the button and it grabs the cork. Then you press a button to reverse it so the cork falls out of the opener. It’s easy and will be very handy if you have to spend a long time with the in-laws.

2. Turkey Fryer: This may be the most dangerous thing on the list, but is totally worth it. Everything tastes better deep fried right? It’s also a great thing to do for a secondary Thanksgiving with friends. Trust me, you’ll start searching for anything you can deep fry within minutes. Just be very careful. Operator probably should not have wine.

3. Infared Temperature gauge: I love this because then you don’t have to worry about a)getting dirty and b) reading it incorrectly. The only problem is that it’s on backorder right now, but you can order it to be ready next year.

4. Thanksgiving Menu Maker: This free app is for the iPhone and iPad and is really popular for helping to create the perfect Thanksgiving menu. Also it allows you to be daring and try to make one new thing on the menu this year.

5. Kinect with Dance Central 2: To get out of the food coma you need a Kinect and Dance Central 2. Burn those calories that way you’ll have room for desert guilt free! You didn’t think I could make this list without adding some gaming! Another great group game is You Don’t Know Jack

Going through Black Friday ads, one can be amazed by all the things that are on sale. But here is one sale that maybe you haven’t heard of yet. The Top Cow Store is having a Thanksgiving sale where everything is on sale.

On Friday, November 26, the entire Top Cow Store is 60% off. This includes comic issues, packs, exclusives, hardcovers, posters, and lithographs. Basically anything in the store.

Macys Spider-Man Balloon

Marvel’s Spider-Man is back, soaring over the streets of Manhattan in the 83rd Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade. Spider-Man was originally in the parade in 1987 which fans loved. But the balloon was retired in 1998. The new Spider-Man balloon his huge but also has a more modern look. Spider-Man will be part of the Macy’s Parade until 2011.

“Spider-Man’s return to the Macy’s Balloon line-up this year is an event of seismic magnitude,” says Robin Hall, executive producer of Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. “Marvel’s iconic character, which flew for over a decade in the ‘80s and ‘90s was one of the most memorable balloons in Macy’s long Parade history.” Hall continued, “When is Spider-man coming back? is a question that has been shouted from the sidelines each and every year we inflate our helium giants on Thanksgiving eve. This new, updated balloon, featuring a modern, more defined Spider-Man, will fill a huge void for Parade devotees and will undoubtedly seize the imaginations of a whole new generation of fans.”

“We couldn’t be more excited to bring Spider-Man back to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, a landmark event that millions anticipate each year. The enduring popularity of New York’s own friendly neighborhood Super Hero has only grown since the last time he appeared in the Parade and we are certain the new Spider-Man balloon will delight both long-time fans and new audiences alike,” said Simon Philips President, Worldwide Consumer Products for Marvel Entertainment.

It will be great to see how the new balloon turns that famous corner in the parade. This year’s parade is Thursday, November 26, 2009 from 9am – 12pm.
