It’s Our Get Excited About Metro: Last Light Contest!

This past E3 got us quite excited about Metro: Last Light, THQ and 4A Games’ sequel to Metro 2033, which was a first-person shooter/survival horror game that took place in post-apocalyptic Moscow. (It’s also based off of a novel with the same name.) Of course, THQ’s live action trailer of Metro: Last Light also got our hearts aflutter (as well as a minor case of the tearjerkers). As such, we’re so pleased to be able to help get all of you just as excited as we are about this upcoming game. Throughout this week, we will be giving away ONE Steam code a day for Metro 2033. That’s five codes, one a day through Friday, ripe for the picking. So how do you enter? First, you must follow @GamingAngels on Twitter. Secondly, you must tweet @GamingAngels and @MetroVideoGame that you’re excited to #EnterTheMetro or that you want to #EnterTheMetro. How

    A day with WWE 13

On Saturday THQ took GamingAngels out for a day of WWE celebration. The event was tied into SummerSlam and the announcement of details for THQ’s upcoming title, WWE13. Unfortunately, THQ had no control over the weather that day because it was SUPER HOT at Staples Center. But the heat did not dampen any of the fan’s love for WWE. But the heat did affect me being all pregnant and such. I went through three bottles of water and sat down in semi-shade during the event. While I was sitting, I was crowd watching. Staples Center was sold out for SummerSlam and they came to this pre-party to celebrate their love for particular wrestlers. What I noticed was how family friendly the event was. Families everywhere wore t-shirts for their fav wrestlers (CM Punk seemed the most popular), they stood in line to get pictures with belts, stars, and even on

    Darksiders II Hands-on Preview

THQ held a community event last week for their upcoming, much anticipated title, Darksiders II, during which they let us play the first 8 hours of the game. Coming into the event, I was very nervous about playing Darksiders II for so long, as I didn’t finish the first Darksiders game. The platforming puzzles and over-the-top Zelda cloning proved to be too much for my lack of patience, and I nearly flipped over a coffee table in rage. It really made me sad that I didn’t finish the game, as the story was so great and I really wanted to know how War’s story finished outside of reading a summary on Wikipedia. So having to play a game that could potentially make me flip something that’s not mine in rage really made me anxious. I am so pleased to say that I loved every second I had with Darksiders II.

SDCC 2012 Preview: South Park: Stick of Truth

South Park: Stick of Truth is everything you would expect from show creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker–a lot of humor, a lot of cleverness, and a lot of offensiveness. I walked out of this preview feeling both horrified and amazed. I’m fairly certain that is what the creators have always gone for. Stick of Truth is about the largest LARPing session you have ever seen. The player takes on the role of the new kid in town and is forced to go make new friends while his/her parents go “wrestle” in the new house. If the new kid tries to go into the house, the father appears in the upstairs window, obviously naked, and yells, “I TOLD YOU TO GO MAKE FRIENDS!” Yep, you’re definitely in South Park. As the new kid wanders down the streets, he’s instantly pulled into this giant LARPing session with all the kids of

    E3 2012 Preview: THQ Line-up

THQ had a decent lineup of games that they talked about at E3, however only a couple were available for preview to the media: Company of Heroes, Metro: Last Light and Darksiders II. Other games that were talked about but were sadly not available to demo were WWE13, Saints Row the Third: Enter the Dominatrix and South Park: The Stick of Truth. I decided to check out Darksiders and Metro, and I was pleased that I did. Darksiders II: In the demo, you are given a cutscene that describes the history of the world and how the four horsemen came about to combat against the Nephelim. It’s a very nicely animated bit and really sets up the story well. The mission that you go on is to figure out how to free your brother War. Graphics wise the world is beautiful, and damn do I love the horse that you get to

    E3 THQ Investor Meeting

I got to sit in and listen into the THQ Investor Meeting this morning. I was very interested to see what was going to be said, especially with the closing of their San Diego studio due to the sale of the UFC game rights to EA. Not much was said on the studio closing but there was a lot of talk about how they were pleased with the sale and that “this is a win-win situation for us as a company,” said COO Brian Ferrell. Brian went on to talk about how the sale money can go to their other properties that are in development. The talk then shifted into their upcoming games that they are working on: Darksiders 2, Saints Row the Third: Enter the Dominatrix, WWE13, Company of Heroes, Metro: Last Light and South Park: The Stick of Truth. Some good tidbits from this part included that they
