Ubisoft has announced Rainbow 6 Patriots, for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC via a Game Informer cover (as you do). The “Six” being replaced by a “6″ isn’t the only change. This time, the counter-terrorist group is up against something a lot more familiar in today’s political environment. (Controversial! Ooh!)

Tom Clancy’s Team Rainbow is up against a new kind of terrorist threat, the “True Patriots.” What’s their beef? Well, they think that overthrowing the government is the right way to go, because it’s just gotten too corrupt. They may be getting a little violent to get their way, though — and that’s where the Rainbow 6 team comes in.

“Terrorism has evolved, and so has Rainbow 6,” said creative director David Sears in the reveal GI published earlier today. “In Rainbow 6 Patriots, all the team play, tactics, and realism that fans of the series love have been coupled with an exciting new narrative direction. This adds an unprecedented level of humanity that will make Rainbow 6 Patriots an extremely tense and immersive experience.”

The whole time, you’ll be dealing with a new morality system — one that might actually make you think about the choices you’re making in your modern FPS experience. That much is definitely something to look forward to.

“The team at RedLynx has developed exceptionally strong digital brands that stand out for their high replay value, their long tail sales and their multiplatform positioning,” said Yves Guillemot, Ubisoft’s CEO. “We are delighted to welcome RedLynx to the Ubisoft family. Their expertise in asynchronous online games and physics-based game mechanics provides us with a great opportunity to bring their powerful brands, most notably Trials, to an even broader range of fast-growing digital platforms.”

“We were attracted by Ubisoft’s focus on creativity and quality, and the fact that they base their long-term strategy on both the traditional and digital distribution video game markets,” said Tero Virtala, CEO of RedLynx. “The reality of today’s market is not about platforms, it’s about creating excellent gaming experiences that consumers can play on any device or screen they like. As part of the Ubisoft team, RedLynx will be able to focus even more intently on creating stand-out, excellent brands that push the boundaries of online gaming in many new growth areas. With Ubisoft, a wider audience will get the chance to enjoy our games, we’ll generate more value for our brands, and also leverage our experience more broadly in digital distribution channels.”

Ubisoft is putting together 78 seven-minute CG shorts starring the crazy little fellas. Those will be repackaged into 26 television episodes that Nickelodeon will air on all of its channels starting in 2013. Well, except the ones in France (where Ubisoft is based).

“Nickelodeon is one of the world’s leading entertainment brands for children and families, and Ubisoft is thrilled to be partnering with Nickelodeon to deliver unique television programming to its viewers,” said Jean-Julien Baronnet, chief executive officer of Ubisoft Motion Pictures. “As the world’s most recognized entertainment brand for children and families, Nickelodeon is the perfect vehicle to share the zany Rabbids characters and their crazy adventures with television audiences around the globe. This partnership represents a major milestone in Ubisoft’s strategy to expand its brands to new media, thereby attracting new audiences to its games.”

(If you have kids, I kind of feel for you right now.)

Just Dance is a huge success as a franchise. I’ve played it with my mom (on the Wii) and we have a blast. Next up for the franchise is Just Dance 3 and this time both Kinect and Playstation Move will be supported. To celebrate the launch, Ubisoft has teamed up with Target to offer two exclusive songs and a collectible pre-order card.

The Target exclusive edition of Just Dance® 3 will feature the following two bonus tracks: “Only Girl [In the World]” by Rihanna and “Airplanes” by B.o.B. Just Dance 3 is available in Target stores nationwide beginning October 7, 2011.

“Target and Ubisoft are taking social gaming entertainment to new heights,” said Nik Nayar, vice president of Merchandising, Target. “The Just Dance franchise has become a pop culture phenomenon, and by partnering on an exclusive edition of Just Dance 3, Target is offering a unique experience with songs we know guests will love.”

Target guests can receive 5 percent off their purchase if they use their Target REDCard. Target guests can also pre-order the title for $1 and receive a collectible reservation card. Bring that card back up to 7 days after purchase and get a $5 Target gift card. Remember Target also offers a trade in service, which is another way to lower the price. Just Dance 3 will be available October 7, 2011 for $39.99.

Ubisoft announced today that they’ll be publishing Demiurge Studios’ robot-killing run-n-gun title Shoot Many Robots for Xbox LIVE Arcade, PlayStation Network and PC in 2012.

The game follows P(ickles) Walter Wingnut, who apparently lives in an RV, during his quest to kill as many robots as possible. That means the title is a very accurate one. Players can team up with three friends for the sidescrolling RPG run-n-gun action for two modes: Traversal (where you just progress through a level) and Survival, where you’ve got to survive the hordes of robots.

“Ubisoft is excited to be working with Demiurge Studios on the release of Shoot Many Robots,” said Adam Novickas, director of marketing at Ubisoft. “Ubisoft is focused on providing players with a strong and diverse portfolio of digital titles, and Demiurge is set to bring another amazing game to the digital space with Shoot Many Robots.”

This game will be on display during PAX Prime this week. Here’s a trailer to prepare you:

We have Child of Eden for Xbox 360, with Kinect support. Now the PS3 version is on the way for release on September 27, a week later than originally planned.

But it appears that the developers are making up for it by ensuring Move support and adding 3D capabilities. So everyone out there with one of those fancy-schmancy televisions with your special glasses can just…well, get totally absorbed in the game, I suppose.

Game creator Tetsuya Mizuguchi even shows it off on-camera. Take a look:

Ubisoft announced today that they will be testing Assassin’s Creed Revelations‘ multiplayer modes in a beta on the PS3 starting September 3. Betas are really the thing to do lately! Or…at least they’re trendy.

From then until September 11, PlayStation Plus members (and Uplay members) will get access to nine characters (The Sentinel, The Vanguard, The Guardian, The Vizier, The Thespian, The Deacon, The Bombardier, The Trickster and The Champion), three maps (Knight’s Hospital, Antioch, Constantinople) and four playable modes (Wanted, Manhunt, Deathmatch, and Artifact Assault), all for testing purposes.

The full game releases November 15, 2011.
