Gaming Angels Highlight, November 2009 – Alexandria Neonakis

Chances are, if you’re a gamer who also appreciates things that are great, you’ve heard of Alexandria Neonakis. Last Valentine’s Day, her videogame-themed Valentines made their rounds on the internet, and her work became a mini underground sensation. Piquing my own interest, I decided to check  out what other art she had on her website, http://www.beavotron.com. If you’ve ever wondered what a red panda would look like dressed as Marlon Brando, or needed an even more stylized version of your favorite Team Fortress 2 characters, Beavotron is the place start. I had the chance to talk with artist extraordinaire Alexandria about her work, and hopefully what she had to say will motivate other aspiring artists to keep doing what they love. Where did you get your start? I started seriously dedicating time to drawing when I was 13 years old. It was really more of a hobby back then, but

Left 4 Dead 2 boycott is officially over

The controversy that showed the ire of Valve fanboys is now officially over. The boycott was originally called for Left 4 Dead 2 due to fanboy complaints that Valve was not supporting Left 4 Dead with DLC. “Effective Wednesday October 21st 2009 at 12:00 PM Eastern Standard Time, this group will be closed,” said revolution architect Walking_Target. “People have lost sight of why we’re here. The comments are always full of trolls, people bashing Valve and phishers. What is more, people are unwilling or unable to wait for Valve to follow through in any cohesive way.” Fellow man of the people Agent of Chaos added: “We have accomplished everything we can on our manifesto. We’ve been dealing with Valve ever since our group started, then we met them in-person and now we’re at the point of concluding our discussions. Our goal wasn’t to steer people away from L4D2, it was

Left 4 Dead 2′s Rocky Road to Release

The internet has been ablaze with mixed reactions to Valve ever since the announcement of Left 4 Dead 2′s release later this autumn. Fans of the original are up in arms over the fact that they are putting out a sequel only a year after the first. Many believe that Valve will abandon Left 4 Dead, which has turned out to be a very popular staple in the 360 library. “We obviously listen to the community a lot,” said Doug Lombardi. “That’s one of our staples. Did we anticipate it? No, we didn’t, but I think that one of the key things is: announcing Left 4 Dead 2 doesn’t mean we’re abandoning Left 4 Dead 1. “Another thing is it’s important to remember that E3 is where you go to announce new titles, specifically titles that are coming to retail. We do press there, but it’s not really a venue
