Tonight, I am sitting here watching Celebrity Fit Club. For those that might not be familiar, it’s a show on VH1 where they invite celebs to work out and follow a nutrition program to get fit. The program does have it’s dramatic moments, but overall there are some good tips about losing weight or different ideas for working out.

While watching tonight, it was funny to see the celebs take turns playing Wii Fit Plus. The showcased a Ninja Game (that Jay wanted to play), and Kaycee was so adorable while playing.

Just wanted to post this and show that even celebs use the Wii to work out!

This clip doesn’t show them working out with the Wii, but it will give you a taste of Celebrity Fit Club. The show is on VH1 at 9pm on Mondays.

On weekends from Jan. 16-31, select Target stores will have the “Wii Fit Plus Experience” set up in the parking lot or entrance of the store. The “Experience” will feature eight Wii Fit Plus kiosks, where people can try out the game in a environment that will supposedly be like a yoga studio. (I’m kind of curious as to how they accomplish that feat, because I have never been to Target and thought, “Yeah, I’m gonna do yoga here!” And I love yoga.)

Not only that, but ambassadors representing Target and Nintendo will be handing out healthy snacks from Target’s Archer Farms brand.

The biggest thing, however, is that visitors who complete the Wii Fit Plus demo will receive a $15 Target GiftCard (while supplies last, of course — what, do you expect Target to hand out free cash all day?). That, coupled with the $19.99 MSRP for the Wii Fit Plus disc will make it easy for people who own the original disc to upgrade (the balance board and disc bundle is $99.99).

Sports Authority and Nintendo teamed up for an event to announce their partnership. The goal of the event was to showcase the new Wii Fit exhibits featured at over 100 Sports Authority stores as well as set a record for the number of people doing Wii Fit at once.

Jillian Michaels came to the event to run the workout and everyone had fun. Sports Authority wants people to have fun with their workout and loves that the Nintendo Wii Balance Board allows people to do that with workout games.

The Sports Authority must have gotten the news from the American Heart Association about Wii Fitness games. They are teaming up with Nintendo to sell Wii gaming systems and Wii Fit Plus as well as other accessories and games for Wii. The goal is to get their customers to know the Wii system better and try out Wii Fit Plus before they buy it.

“Consumers already look to us as the authority for their sports and fitness needs, so the retail partnership with Nintendo is the intersection of fitness and interactive gaming,” said David Campisi, president of Sports Authority. “Sports Authority recognized that the Wii console is a product that can help you stay active and have fun with your family at the same time, which is why the retail partnership with Nintendo is a perfect fit.”

To kick things off, Jillian Michaels will be at the Torrance, California Sports Authority on November 19,2009 to celebrate her new Wii work out game, “Jillian Michaels Fitness Ultimatum 2010″.

“Americans are always looking for ways to get fit, and many look to Jillian as the expert in motivation and fitness,” said Giancarlo Chersich, CEO of Empowered Media. “Jillian wanted to support Sports Authority by helping consumers meet their health and wellness goals.”

The events will have the largest Wii Fit Plus demonstration and other surprises. Expect Nintendo products at Sports Authority until Spring 2010.

Wow is it the start of holiday game season already? I saw Wii Fit Plus being demoed at Long Beach Comic Con and thought, oh that will be out in a month or so. According to the email I received today, I am wrong. Wii Fit Plus launched on October 4th. Meaning the new workout game for the Wii should be in retail stores now.

Wii Fit Plus has 20 new activities including skateboarding and a Segway course. Workouts can be set for any duration and players will see an estimated amount of calories burned during their workout. A cute new feature is the ability to weight your pets, awww fido has to go on a diet!

“As the fast pace of the holiday season kicks in, Wii Fit Plus delivers an unbeatable at-home fitness option,” said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America’s vice president of Sales & Marketing. “Whether people have specific fitness goals or just want a fun way to stay active, they can create a personalized, productive workout routine that they’ll actually look forward to each day.”

The title is $19.99 by itself or $99.99 with the balance board.

Nintendo Wii Remote Black

Nintendo has decided to make a few announcements late tonight. Good thing we’re always working! Today, Nintendo announced the date for Wii Fit Plus launch which will be October 4th for the US.

The DSi and Wii Remote are coming in new colors as well. Starting September 13, the Nintendo DSi will be available in White and Pink. This holiday season, Nintendo will be launching a new black version of the Wii Remote bundled with a black version of the Wii MotionPlus accessory. A black Nunchuk controller will be available for the holidays as well. Because you have to have a matching set.

“All of these announcements bring more options and more choices to consumers as our industry heads into its busiest time of the year,” Fils-Aime said. “Each of these products allows consumers to enjoy a more personal gaming experience, no matter how they choose to play.”

Wii Fit Plus has new exercises and users can customize their own workouts. It will be sold bundled with the Wii Balance Board for $99.99 or just the Wii Fit Plus disc at $19.99.

Nintendo E3 2009

Nintendo kicked off the first official day of E3 very early at Club Nokia. Cammie Dunaway starts by talking about games being the biggest form of entertainment with data from the NPD Group. Now everyone games.

The first game is a new Super Mario Bros. Wii title.

Bill Trinen Senior Manager Product Management on the New Super Mario Bros. title. The title will allow you to play with three other players. In the demo Cammie died right away in co-op mode. When a player dies, they come back in a bubble that you can choose when to pop. Pop it later after you have grabbed all the coins in the level or pop it right away to get some added assistance. Super Mario Bros. Wii includes the warp points and hidden areas for coins that you know and love. The propeller suit is a new item used in the game. Super Mario Bros. Wii will launch this holiday season.

Now it’s time to talk about working out. In the thirteen months since launch, Wii Fit has become the best selling game around the world. Wii Fit Plus is the sequel that adds 6 new strength activities and 15 new balance games. Examples of the games are juggling, skateboarding, and perfect 10 (described as “brainage for your backside”). Wii Fit Plus will be available this fall 2009 sold with the board and without.

Reggie comes out to the stage to talk about the Wii market and the next advance in the Wii with Wii Motion Plus. He then broke down Wii Sports Resort and what activities you’ll be able to play in the title like ping pong, basketball and archery. Wii Sports Resort is set for a July 26 launch date.

Other titles supporting Wii Motion Plus are Tiger Woods PGA TOUR® 10 (Wii) and Virtua Tennis™ 2009 (Wii).

Nintendo then chose to talk about upcoming RPG games. First up is Square Enix with a new open world adventure exclusive to the Wii. Final Fantasy, the Crystal Bearers for the Wii and KINGDOM HEARTS 358/2 Days for the DS, here is a video for Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days:

Also new to the DS is Mario and Luigi: Bowsers Inside Story where Mario and Luigi are microsized and swallowed by Bowser. The title is due out this fall. The last RPG news got quite the reaction from the crowd. Legendary Golden Sun is coming to the DS.

The press event then turned it’s attention to women and tweens with Patterson Women’s Murder Club: Games of Passion and Style Savvy.

DSi sales have surpassed one million units and Nintendo plans on supporting software for it starting with Flip Notes Studio for making games this summer. Mario vs Donkey Kong will be availabe June 8th for the DSi and will let players design levels. WarioWare DYI lets players design a game from scratch using their tools. You can then share your levels with other DSi owners. Nintendo is also getting into the social networking fun by allowing DSi players to send pictures taken and altered in the DSi to their facebook.

Mr. Satoru Iwata, President of Nintendo, comes out to talk about how people fall into three types: those that play games , those that will never play and those that may play. His objective is to reach those that are on the fence. He then announces the Wii Vitality Sensor which measures your pulse. This could be used to help people unwind, fall asleep, or perhaps used in a game in some manner.

Nintendo closed the event with the announcement of a collaboration with Team Ninja. The title is, Metroid: The Other M. Here is a video:

Apart from the games that they and their 3rd party friends are bringing out, we saw the Wii Motion Plus unveiled and a new device called Wii Vitality Sensor. And the DSi also gave fans another reason to use Facebook!

Nintendo have promised that the Wii Motion Plus will give you a more realistic physical sense while playing. It can also sense where and how you are holding your WiiMote, and complements many 3rd party releases. Sounds pretty cool to me!

They also say that the Wii Vitality Sensor (pictured below) expands the appeal of video games. It takes note of your pulse rate and any other signals your body is giving out, and lets you know what’s going on inside.

The news for DSi owners sees you having to upgrade your Nintendo system, but once that’s done you can use the Facebook Connect feature to share the pictures you take with your DSi! Because we all need another excuse to use Facebook right?

Now, the good stuff: Games! What can we see coming to the Wii and DS consoles?

For the Wii, Nintendo has pulled out a sequel to Super Mario Galaxy (Super Mario Galaxy 2) and Wii Fit (Wii Fit Plus). We’ll also see a collaboration between Nintendo and Team Ninja that will give us a brand spanking new Metroid game called “Metroid: Other M“, which looks incredible but we have to wait till 2010.

We also get a new Wii Sports game called Wii Sports Resort, where Reggie gave us a demonstration of his mad basketball skills against Bill Trinen. You get to try out your archery skills as well as go skydiving! It keeps getting better!And lastly for the Wii, Nintendo announced a new Mario game called New Super Mario Bros. Wii!

DS owners can see a few sequels coming their way with the likes of Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story and Golden Sun DS which made an appearance at the conference. There is also going to be a new Warioware game titled WarioWare D.I.Y. as well as a new DSiWare game called Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again! (which is available at the Nintendo DSi Shop on June 8th for 800 Nintendo DSi Points). There was also mention of a new Zelda game called The Legend of Zelda^™: Spirit Tracks, as well as a new fashion game aimed at us female gamers called Style Savvy^™.

At the conference we also saw some of their 3rd party releases mentioned which included The Conduit (Sega), Resident Evil®: The Darkside Chronicles (Capcom), Dead Space™ Extraction (EA), Final Fantasy® Crystal Chronicles®: The Crystal Bearers® (Square-Enix) and Red Steel 2 (Ubisoft) for the Wii – but Red Steel 2 is only playable with Wii Motion Plus. DS will see James Patterson Women’s Murder Club: Games of Passion (THQ), Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days (Square-Enix) and C.O.P. The Recruit (Ubisoft).

For those lucky enough to browse the show floor at E3, they can expect to see all of the above games as well as more Wii, WiiWare, DS and DSiWare releases. Wii is showing off Sin and Punishment^™ 2, Endless Ocean^™ 2, Line Attack Heroes^™, and Span Smasher^™. WiiWare has PictureBook Games^™: Pop-Up Pursuit, You, Me & the Cubes^™, Final Fantasy IV: The After Years, BIT.TRIP.CORE, Icarian: Kindred Spirits, Sword & Soldiers, Military Madness: Nectaris, and Cave Story.
