Since July 26, Wii Sports Resort has sold over 500,000 units for the Wii. The title has 12 resort-themed sports to play and comes with one Wii MotionPlus accessory. “Through Monday we sold one copy of Wii Sports Resort roughly every 1.5 seconds continuously since it launched in the United States,” said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “This tells us consumers were eagerly waiting to get their hands on these fun activities, and it’s a great start for a game that will have long-lasting appeal.” Wii Sports Resort sells for $49.99 and additional Wii MotionPlus accessories sell for $19.99 each. Nintendo Introduces Wii Sports Resort

Nintendo has announced the next installment of the Wii Sports franchise: Wii Sports Resort. The game features a new control system which takes advantage of the Wii Motion Plus. This controller attaches to the base of the Wii base of the Wii Remote in order to make the controls more accurate. Wii Sports Resort is targeted to both the veteran and non-experienced gamer. The 12 sports (archery, basketball, bowling, golf, table tennis, Swordplay, Air Sports, canoeing, cycling, Frisbee, Power Cruising and wakeboarding) allow players to use the Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers in different ways, and while some sports require both controllers, others can be played using only the Wii Remote. In archery, players hold the Wii Remote vertically like a bow while drawing back the Nunchuk. In Frisbee, players motion with the Wii Remote as though they were tossing a real Frisbee. And while playing wakeboarding, players hold the

Star Wars Wii-Mote Add Ons: Lightsaber and Clone Tooper Blaster

The Wii loves its video game accessories, and we eat them up. A while back when The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess was released there was an add of a sword and shield for the nunchuk and wii-mote.  We have the Wii Fit balance board, the wii bowling ball and other items to go along with it. Of course, what would be an add-on-ation without discussing every Star War fan’s dream of having a lightsaber. Dream no longer!  Bensussen Deutsch & Associates, Inc. or  BDA has announced two new Star Wars licensed video game accessories for Wii – the Clone Trooper Blaster and Light-Up Lightsabers. These add ons are in honor of the new Star Wars game that would be released this September “Star Wars Clone Wars: Republic Heroes”. In either press release the items are decribed as follows: “The blaster is designed for use with both the Wii Remote™

    Charge your Wii Remotes easily

This may just be the greatest invention ever. Energizer has created the Energizer Induction Charge System that allows you to charge up to two Wii Remotes. You won’t even have to remove the sleeves, Wii Motion Plus or lanyards to charge. Basically drop the Wii remote into the cradle and you are done. “Our goal is to provide gamers with fun and easy-to-use technology that enhances their gaming experience,” said John Moore, Senior Vice President of Marketing for California-based PDP. “The Energizer Induction Charge System makes it so you don’t have to ‘undress’ your Wii remote any more, reducing the frustration to gamers.” The Power & Play line from Energizer is a rechargeable battery brand that can power game controllers. Definitely sounds like something I have to look into for Xbox 360 controllers. The Energizer Induction Charge System will be available on May 11 2009, for $49.99.

Wii-mote gets an attachment that makes it more sensitive

Nintendo has released an attachment for your Wii-mote that will make it more sensitive. The new Wii MotionPlus accessory will be in stores on June 8 and should help with precision and performance. Nintendo is also launching Wii Sports Resort on July 26 to show how the Wii MotionPlus adds to the game. If you purchase Wii Sports Resort you get a single Wii MotionPlus accessory. The press release does mention that when it’s used with specially designed games, Wii MotionPlus tracks your movement in finer detail. Which may mean that the Wii MotionPlus will not automatically make a difference with older games. “Wii MotionPlus represents a new evolution in video game control. The variety of fun games in Wii Sports Resort show off its incredible precision,” said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “Developers around the world are busy working on new ways
