Wii Sports Resort sells more than 500,000 units

Since July 26, Wii Sports Resort has sold over 500,000 units for the Wii. The title has 12 resort-themed sports to play and comes with one Wii MotionPlus accessory. “Through Monday we sold one copy of Wii Sports Resort roughly every 1.5 seconds continuously since it launched in the United States,” said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “This tells us consumers were eagerly waiting to get their hands on these fun activities, and it’s a great start for a game that will have long-lasting appeal.” Wii Sports Resort sells for $49.99 and additional Wii MotionPlus accessories sell for $19.99 each. Stealthyslyth visits Wuhu Island and plays Wii Sports Resort

Last week I was able to head over to  check out the little piece of tropical paradise that Nintendo created in order to showcase their new game Wii Sports Resort. It was complete with a small pool, sand, palm trees and refreshing drinks. Let me tell you, this was one heck of a strange site to see smack dab in the middle of New York City! As I walked in I was given a blue and white flower lei and shown to the cabana tents that were set up that had Wii consoles and TVs set up for some of the games you could play, as well as a few booths for free-play.  I was able to sneak in and play the Archery,  Swords and Canoeing. I was surprised with how much of a difference the Wii MotionPlus addon to the controller helped with the coordination. The Archery was much

Wii Sports Resort takes the charts in the UK

Nintendo has reclaimed the top of the UK charts this week with Wii Sports Resort. The reception of the title has been positive so far. Harry Potter & the Half-Blood Prince and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 barely budge, while Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen falls three spots to number 5. The biggest drop is Prototype which moves from 13 to 18. Otherwise most of the chart stays relatively close to the position they had last week. Guitar Hero: World Tour holds onto the very end. Nintendo brings back some power as they tie EA with six positions each on the chart.

    Nintendo Introduces Wii Sports Resort

Nintendo has announced the next installment of the Wii Sports franchise: Wii Sports Resort. The game features a new control system which takes advantage of the Wii Motion Plus. This controller attaches to the base of the Wii base of the Wii Remote in order to make the controls more accurate. Wii Sports Resort is targeted to both the veteran and non-experienced gamer. The 12 sports (archery, basketball, bowling, golf, table tennis, Swordplay, Air Sports, canoeing, cycling, Frisbee, Power Cruising and wakeboarding) allow players to use the Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers in different ways, and while some sports require both controllers, others can be played using only the Wii Remote. In archery, players hold the Wii Remote vertically like a bow while drawing back the Nunchuk. In Frisbee, players motion with the Wii Remote as though they were tossing a real Frisbee. And while playing wakeboarding, players hold the

    Nintendo offerings at E3

This years E3 saw Nintendo pull out some pretty impressive promises for what we will see gracing our consoles. Apart from the games that they and their 3rd party friends are bringing out, we saw the Wii Motion Plus unveiled and a new device called Wii Vitality Sensor. And the DSi also gave fans another reason to use Facebook! Nintendo have promised that the Wii Motion Plus will give you a more realistic physical sense while playing. It can also sense where and how you are holding your WiiMote, and complements many 3rd party releases. Sounds pretty cool to me! They also say that the Wii Vitality Sensor (pictured below) expands the appeal of video games. It takes note of your pulse rate and any other signals your body is giving out, and lets you know what’s going on inside. Mr Iwata introduces us to the Wii Vitality Sensor device
