    Rumino Games, “Swords & Soldiers” Making A Big Impression

    From the creators of “De Blob” back in 2007, comes a very new, fresh, an innovative developer. It was only 2008 when Rumino Games was signed to be a Nintendo Licensed Developer and their first title, “Swords and Soliders” is making quite an impression. The Wiiware game “Swords and Soldiers” has been getting a lot of positive attention lately. “Swords and Soliders” was originally nominated for five categories at the Dutch Game Awards, Best Game, Best Visuals, Best Audio, Best Original Gameplay and the Control magazine Industry award. Well, Rumino Games is proud to announce “Swords and Soliders” being honored at two award shows in a row;  it was given ‘Best Original Game Design’ at the Dutch Game Awards diner as well as the ‘Control Magazine Industry’ award given to Rumino by legendary game designer Peter Molyneux himself.     Swords & Soldiers wins at Dutch Game Awards

    Swords & Soldiers was a big winner at the Dutch Game Awards. The WiiWare title was the most nominated game at the award show. With nominations in the categories Best Game, Best Visuals, Best Audio, Best Original Gameplay and the Control magazine industry award. Romino games were able to come home with awards in two of those categories. Swords & Soldiers won the Best Original Gameplay award and the Control Magazine Industry award. Congrats to Romino games on their win! Swords & Soldiers is a real-time strategy game for the Nintendo Wii.

    LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias gameplay trailer

    There is a new trailer for LostWinds: Winter of the Melodies which will be coming to WiiWare on the Nintendo Wii. The trailer shows gameplay and how water puzzles work.     Manifesto Games is closing

    Greg Costikyan has announced in a blog post that he is closing Manifesto Games. Manifesto Games started in September of 2005 with the goal of making independently developed games available outside typical retail outlets. In 2006, Costikyan wrote this about Manifesto, “The machinery of gaming has run amok. Instead of serving creative vision, it suppresses it. Instead of encouraging innovation, it represses it. Instead of taking its cue from our most imaginative minds, it takes its cue from the latest month’s PC Data list. Instead of rewarding those who succeed, it penalizes them with development budgets so high and royalties so low that there can be no reward for creators. Instead of ascribing credit to those who deserve it, it seeks to associate success with the corporate machine.     Like bubble wrap? Maybe you’ll like opening a box.

    Do you remember our post about the Mugen PuchiPuchi bubblewrap simulator? The unique keychain let you pop bubble wrap for hours never having to worry about it going flat. It was so popular a WiiWare game was made from it. Bandai is trying to find the next thing that people might enjoy. Mugen PeriPeri, is a keychain toy that tries to replicate opening a package for the first time. It is thought that this action brings pleasure to people in Japan. I think the only time I get excited for a package is when I know a video game is in it. I have to include their advertising video too.
