Ubisoft to publish ‘Shoot Many Robots’ in 2012

Ubisoft announced today that they’ll be publishing Demiurge Studios’ robot-killing run-n-gun title Shoot Many Robots for Xbox LIVE Arcade, PlayStation Network and PC in 2012. The game follows P(ickles) Walter Wingnut, who apparently lives in an RV, during his quest to kill as many robots as possible. That means the title is a very accurate one. Players can team up with three friends for the sidescrolling RPG run-n-gun action for two modes: Traversal (where you just progress through a level) and Survival, where you’ve got to survive the hordes of robots. “Ubisoft is excited to be working with Demiurge Studios on the release of Shoot Many Robots,” said Adam Novickas, director of marketing at Ubisoft. “Ubisoft is focused on providing players with a strong and diverse portfolio of digital titles, and Demiurge is set to bring another amazing game to the digital space with Shoot Many Robots.” This game will

Here’s who you’ll meet in ‘The Baconing’

The latest chapter in the DeathSpank saga (is it a saga now? What’s the technical number of games we’d have to have for a saga?) seems to be especially tasty. At least, that’s what you’d expect with a name like The Baconing. In this trailer, you’ll meet the full cast of main characters. Take a look…some of them are kind of creepy.

Surprise! Valve unveils ‘Counter-Strike: Global Offensive”

Valve announced today that Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is currently planned for release in early 2012 via PlayStation network, Xbox LIVE Arcade and Steam. The game will feature new maps, characters and weapons as well as updates of classic content. The game will also add new modes, matchmaking functions, leaderboards and more. “Counter-Strike took the gaming industry by surprise when the unlikely MOD became the most played online PC action game in the world almost immediately after its release in August 1999,” said Doug Lombard, VP of Marketing at Valve. “For the past 12 years, it has continued to be one of the most-played games in the world, headline competitive gaming tournaments and selling over 25 million units worldwide across the franchise. CS: GO promises to expand on CS’ award-winning gameplay and deliver it to gamers on the PC as well as the next gen consoles and the Mac.” The game

Take a look at the Gamescom trailer for ‘Sine Mora’

Grasshopper Manufacture’s been pretty busy lately, and even though this game doesn’t involve any zombie-killin’ cheerleaders, Sine Mora does appear to be a pretty cinematic shmup. It also looks to be almost the exact opposite of anything we’ve ever seen from Suda51. Maybe that’s what they’re going for. Digital Reality and Grasshopper Manufacture are working together on the PSN/XBLA title, scheduled to release this winter.

    Review: Ms. Splosion Man

Rating: T (for Teen) Genre: Platformer Publisher: Microsoft Game Studios Developer: Twisted Pixel Games Release Date: July 13, 2011 BUY I never had much of an opportunity to play Splosion Man, but I heard nothing but good things from everyone else who played it. Then I saw Ms. Splosion Man at PAX East this past March, and I got a bit more interested in the series. Ms Splosion Man follows Splosion Man’s female counterpart who is created during a mistake made by the scientists after the capture of Splosion Man. But it wasn’t the story that drew me to the game, it was the girly aspects added to the game (like looking for shoes) and the quips made by Ms. Splosion Man herself. The gameplay itself is pretty much the same from the first game. You need to splode in order to jump over obstacles, up walls and to exterminate

The Indie Game Uprising is upon us once more

For the love of indie games, Xbox LIVE’s independent developers are banding together to promote outstanding independent games during the Indie Game Summer Uprising, right after Xbox LIVE’s Summer of Arcade. From August 22-31, this merry band will release one game a day as voted on by developers. However, the community at large does get a chance to provide some input. From August 1-15, anyone on Facebook can vote on two favorites from the list of more than 70. The community’s two picks will release on September 1 and 2. How do you know which 10 titles make the cut? Pay attention to Twitter! The day after the polls close on August 16, the winner’s will be announced on IGSU’s Developer Twitter chat at 8 PM, which you can follow by searching the hashtag #IGSU. Don’t be afraid to talk, either! Here’s a full schedule: July 4 – July 18:

‘Ms. Splosion Man’ has a price for Xbox LIVE Arcade

Twisted Pixel Games announced an official price for their next release, Ms. Splosion Man, which hits on July 13. It is, I believe, actually pretty reasonable — 800 MS Points. You can buy the title either on Xbox LIVE Arcade when it releases, or click here. Twisted Pixel’s press release is way too hilarious to let it stagnate in my inbox, so here, read up on the “Pink Terror.” The value of all life on Earth was originally placed at almost triple the amount of Microsoft points, but a surprise ruling from Twisted Pixel today cited a declining economy and a general disappointment in humanity as the root for assuring its destruction at the incredible price of 800 Microsoft Points.  Minutes after Big Science Labs announced the capture of rogue experiment Splosion Man, all communications cut out.  Unconfirmed reports of a “Pink Terror” led many to speculate on the existence

Playdead’s ‘Limbo’ soon to cast its shadow on PlayStation 3 and PC

Once upon a time, Limbo was only for Xbox 360, and it sold quite well on Xbox LIVE Arcade. That reign is over, though. Whatever exclusivity deal once existed has now come to an end…or at least it will be by the time Limbo sees release on the PlayStation 3 and PC. Developer Playdead isn’t letting anyone else handle this, either. They’re doing all of the work themselves…while also working on a new IP. No release date as of yet, but co-founder Dino Patti did tell Joystiq that it was coming “very soon.”

Review: The Adventures of Shuggy (XBLA)

Rating: E Players: 1-2 Genre: Puzzle/Platformer Publisher: Valcon Games Developer: Smudged Cat Games Release Date: June 15, 2011 Price: 800 MSP RENT/BUY Have you ever inherited a castle? Shuggy, an adorable bat-vampire-thing, has. It’s full of creepy-crawlies, like zombies, spiders and rocks that are somehow able to move of their own accord. I think this should fairly obvious in the first place — castles are huge! There’s no doubt that at least a few rooms would have been ignored over the last few years. Maybe some rocks have become sentient. In Shuggy’s case…he’s got over 100 rooms to clear out. Ouch. And you’re a nice person, right? You’ve got to help him out for karma’s sake at the very least. And then you’ll have to find a friend for over 30 more. In The Adventures of Shuggy, you’re tasked with collecting all of the gems from each room in order

‘Boulder Dash-XL’ gets a July release date

A new version of Boulder Dash is ready to make you nostalgic when it releases on Xbox LIVE Arcade on July 13. The remastering of the 1980s classic, Boulder Dash-XL, will feature the same fun…with a bit of a makeover, and only for 800 MS Points. That has to be an improvement on the price of the original. The title will feature five modes: Arcade, Retro, Zen, Puzzle and Score Attack. Those are fairly self-explanatory, I think. New features include the ability to scan the playfield when the game is paused, as well as a 3D environment and a much larger game than the original. You’ll also be able to choose between a male and female main character. To learn more, you can visit http://www.boulder-dash-xl.com. (I almost wish it was http://www.boulder-XL.com, but what do I know. Also, most people probably call those hyphens. Fine.) A trailer for the game is
