    Konami Revamps Yu-Gi-Oh! Online Services

    Konami is happy to announce a product upgrade for the online version of Yu-Gi-Oh! with the release of Yu-Gi-Oh! Online Duel Accelerator, which will be released for PC in March of this year. This is the fifth year of Yu-Gi-Oh! Online and it’s services, the publisher added a ton of new elements, cards, and systems for online players. This update provides new duels with the latest characters from the 5D’s TV series while keeping old fan-favorites like Yugi, Kaiba, Jaden and Princeton. Players are welcome to create 3D avatars for use in game, and Konami has enhanced the basic mechanics of dueling online. The most duelist-friendly change is that duels will now be free! Players can buy “Boosterpass” points to add new cards, and the points can be bought via credit card or PayPal. In the new version, players can trade cards with other players and lend cards to their

    Shonen Jump Championship Side Events Announced

    This weekend, January 9-10, the Shonen Jump Championships will be held in Los Angeles. On top of the main tournament, a variety of side events have finally been announced! Yu-Gi-Oh! video game players interested in getting ahead of the competition for the Video Game World Championship in 2010 shouldn’t miss this chance to try out 5D’s “Reverse of Arcadia.” Duelists looking to play online, with friends or others, won’t want to miss to test out this game before anyone else. Konami will also have demos of a revamped Yu-Gi-Oh! Online game. 5D’s Tagforce 4 will also be available to check out.     Yu-Gi-Oh! Updates

    Something pretty exciting has been released to the world of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game. The Duel Terminals, after success in Japan, have been brought to official tournament stores in the United States. These terminals are arcade style machines that play and teach the trading card game as well as dispense cards to players. Play on the machine can be at one of two levels. Players may choose to skip playing and just get their card. The cards are specially treated so they can be scanned and used inside the game. The terminal cards can also be used as actual cards and, once these unique cards are released in non-terminal products, will be legal for use in tournaments.     Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Sneak Peek Event

    Konami, holding true to the goal of year-round support to hobby stores, announced the fourth Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game Sneak Peek event showcasing the soon-to-be released Stardust Overdrive booster set. This new booster set will be released at participating Official Tournament Stores on October 31 and/or November 1, depending on what the store wants. The booster set will be available at all hobby stores on November 17. Aside from the excitement of a new booster set, there are a few new, never before seen World Premier cards that are guaranteed to add an extra little bit of excitement to the event. Stardust Overdrive boasts monsters from all of the Yu-Gi-Oh! animated series’s, including many of the creatures used by and against the Dark Signers in the current Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s series.     Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Shonen Jump Championship in Orlando Sept 26-27

    The next stop on the Shonen Jump Championship set will take place in Orlando September 26-27 at the Ramada Orlando Celebration Resort. All duelests can sign up for a player ID and a COSSY (Konami’s ranking system, Konami Card Game Official Tournament Support System) number at the envent. The registration fee is $20, and everyone that signs up will receive five Ancient Prophecy booster packs. Along with the Shonen Jump Championship tournament, there will be side events both days, like Win-A-Mat tournament for all ages and Dragon Duel tournaments for players uner the age of 12. The Regional Qualifier will be held on Sunday. The Resort’s doors will open at exactly 8:00 a.m. for registration. The first round will begin at 10:00 a.m.. The top 16 finalists from this tournament, along with the top competitors from the Sunday Regional Qualifier, will earn invites to participate and compete in their respective

    Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s TCG: Retro Pack is Available Now!

    Konami is releasing a new Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game booster set called Retro Pack 2. This new set will allow players to get their hands on out-of-print cards as well as cards that were originally released as magazine, video game, or movie promotional cards. There will be 100 cards in this new set. Some of the cards talked about include Harpie’s Pet Dragon, which has been out of print since 2002, and the Light and Darkness Dragon from the Shonen Jump magazine. Other cards anticipated are: Dark Necrofear, United We Stand, Mage Power, Dark Ruler Ha Des, Injection Fairy Lily, and Lava Golem, just to name a few. Each Retro Pack 2 blister will have 3 booster packs as well as the Secret Rare “Green Baboon, Defender of the Forest” and will be available for $9.99.
