New Yu-Gi-Oh! Cards Released

Some new cards have been released into the world of Yu-Gi-Oh! Let’s see what’s in store for all you trading card fanatics out there… The Duelist Pack Collection Tin 2010 is perfect for players that want to add popular cards to their collections and test their luck at booster packs. Included in the tins is the “Starlight Road” card, 3 packs of “Duelist Pack-Yusei 2″, 1 pack of “Ancient Prophecy”, and a special 3-card all-foil pack with three of Yusei’s favorite cards from the animated series. A beginner’s guide is also included. A new structure deck called Machina Mayhem includes 11 brand-new cards and gives players the cards they need to play big monsters to dominate the game. Shonen Jump Chamionship Comes to Nashville

This upcoming weekend, February 27-28, the Shonen Jump Championship will be coming to Nashville, TN. Yu-Gi-Oh! players of all age will be gathering at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel and Convention Center to test their skills. For anyone in the area that wants to participate, the registration fee is $20, and every player that signs up will receive 5 Absolute Powerforce booster packs just for participating. Registration starts promptly as 8 a.m. and goes until 10 a.m. when round one starts. The top 16 duelists from the Championship, as well as the top players from the Regional Qualifier on Sunday, earn themselves invitations to participate in their country’s 2010 National Championship. The top three finalists will receive a “Dark End Dragon” prize card, as well as the two finalists from Sunday’s bonus events. Sunday’s bonus events include a Pegasus League event and a Dragon Duel tournament for players 12 and younger.

Konami at Toy Fair

Konami will introduce their 2010 product line at the American International Toy Fair in New York City later this month. For anyone who is planning on attending this event, their booth is #5627 on the first level of the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.  The Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG was recently entered into the Guinness World Records as the best-selling trading card game of all time, with more than 22 billion, yes, billion, cards sold worldwide. Some of the exciting products that have been announced and will be talked about further at the Toy Fair, are the Absolute Powerforce booster packs, and a new ready-to-play Structure Deck. The Absolute Powerforce booster pack set will be released February 16. There are five Synchro Monsters at the center of the 100-card set, including the new trump cards used by Yusei and Jack of the animated series, and the new dragons of the arch-villain Rex

Konami Revamps Yu-Gi-Oh! Online Services

Konami is happy to announce a product upgrade for the online version of Yu-Gi-Oh! with the release of Yu-Gi-Oh! Online Duel Accelerator, which will be released for PC in March of this year. This is the fifth year of Yu-Gi-Oh! Online and it’s services, the publisher added a ton of new elements, cards, and systems for online players. This update provides new duels with the latest characters from the 5D’s TV series while keeping old fan-favorites like Yugi, Kaiba, Jaden and Princeton. Players are welcome to create 3D avatars for use in game, and Konami has enhanced the basic mechanics of dueling online. The most duelist-friendly change is that duels will now be free! Duelist Pack Yusei 2

Yu-Gi-Oh!’s Duelist Pack Yusei 2 is now out. This is a new 30-card set featuring five brand new cards. These cards are mixed with 25 other fan-favorites from Yusei’s Deck, which gives players and fans of Yusei to build the entire deck for themselves. Among the new cards, there is the card “Junk Archer” one of Yusei’s Synchro Monster. These packs are roughly $2 for one pack or $4 for a two-pack booster set. That makes these packs super affordable for players on a budget. There are 17 commons, 7 rares, 4 super rares, and 2 ultra rares. A strategy tip card will also be included in every pack.

New Booster Packs and Global Ranking System

Yu-Gi-Oh! has been busy lately! First off, the COSSY system is now live! This system allows duelists to connect to the global online Duelist rankings system from their own computers. Players can register for the COSSY program at premier events throughout the year, such as Regional Championships, Continental Championships, Shonen Jump Championships and the World Championships, or at official tournament stores to get their own COSSY identification. A complete list of tournament events can be found here. On the ranking screen, there will be two tabs. One is Preliminary and the other is Verified. Preliminary rankings are a running total of all results that are in the system to date, and they show how duelists stack up against each other. Yu-Gi-Oh! Twilight Edition

Konami is releasing the first new Edition for 2010 with the Twilight Edition set. This set boasts bringing together the best Light and Dark type creatures from the past two years into one set. This set also gives players another chance to find a recent power card, Honest, which was originally released in 2008 and is a key to many competitive decks. “Twilight” decks have been increasingly popular in tournaments, appearing frequently in the Shonen Jump Championship in Austin, Texas. The term is used as bringing Light and Dark creatures together to make a powerful deck. Thus, the basis of this set which hopes to do the same and allow more players access to these highly sought-after cards. Hey everyone, it’s that time of year again. That magical time where players start to consider if they want to try their hand at professional level play and start working on those awesome decks they hope to compete with. Both Magic: the Gathering and Yu-Gi-Oh! boast this level of competitive play. Stardust Overdrive Special Edition Available Now!

Today, Konami announced that the Stardust Overdrive Special Edition has been released. With an MSRP of $9.99, this three booster pack set is well worth it. On top of the three boosters, buyers will get one of two Super Rare variants. These variants will either be the hard-to-find Tempest Magician or the equally rare Charge of the Light Brigade. The Charge of the Light Brigade card was previously released as a TCG World Premier card in The Duelist Genisis. Both of these cards are wonderful additions to decks, and when they come with these boosters, it just sweetens the deal. Stardust Overdrive features monsters from all of the Yu-Gi-Oh! animated series’, including Stardust Dragon and Majestic Star Dragon. This Special Edition is available at card and hobby shops today, so go on out and have a ball.
